Can't obtain IP address using usb wifi dongle
I'm trying to set up a Tp-Link TL-WN727N usb on a Mint 13 64-bit.
It recognizes the device and finds my network, but when I try to connect, it fails trying to obtain the IP address.
I've tried to blacklist the rt2800usb, rt2x00usb and rt2x00lib drivers, but no luck.
Any help will be appreciated =)

Re: Recover corrupted usb stick
The stick shows up in the Disk Utility, but when I try to format it I get the following error:
The benchmark test also fails.
Code: Select all
Error creating partition table: helper exited with exit code 1: In part_create_partition_table: device_file=/dev/sdb, scheme=0

Re: Recover corrupted usb stick
Thanks for the reply.
That was my first thought, but the stick doesn't show up in GParted. I tried to mount it manually, but no success...

Recover corrupted usb stick
I have a 4Gb USB stick that stopped working after I formatted it on Windows. It doesn't mount, neither shows up on fdisk -l (although it shows up on lsusb). dmesg|tail gives the following: [ 216.752682] scsi scan: INQUIRY result too short (5), using 36 [ 216.752695] scsi 6:0:0:0: Direct-Access PQ: 0...

I had the same problem with Maya 32-bit... Last week I switched to the 64-bit version and had no more crashes so far.

I'm using Maya and having the same problem, usually when trying to open LibreOffice.
Using Intel chipset, didn't have any problems before installing Mint 13.

Re: Rescue lost data after installing Maya
I got the confirmation, but I didn't choose to format the partition. I just changed the type from ext3 to ext4.
My fault, anyway
Thanks!

Rescue lost data after installing Maya
(I'm not sure where to ask this, so, sorry if I posted on the wrong place) So I've installed Maya. Everything went well, except for one thing: I have a separate /home partition that was formatted as ext3. During the install, I accidentally changed it to ext4 and lost all my data. Is there any way to...

Re: window list and workspace switcher in bottom panel
Is there another way to edit these settings? The dconf-editor becomes unuseable when I click in the enabled-applets entry. The window becomes as wide as the entry is long (i.e. it moves off the screen to the right) and the text colour changes to white on white. Not very useful. The same happens to ...

Re: window list and workspace switcher in bottom panel
If switching to panel0 doesn't work, try switching to panel2.
EDIT: just checked it here. panel1 is the top panel and panel2 is the bottom one. Just edit dconf to choose in which panel you want the applets to appear
In my case, I did:
panel2:right:0:workspace-switcher@cinnamon.org

Re: window list and workspace switcher in bottom panel
I didn't try it myself, but I believe you can do it using dconf-editor. Go to org > cinnamon and find enabled-applets. Try changing 'panel1:left:1:window-list@cinnamon.org' to 'panel0:left:1:window-list@cinnamon.org' and 'panel1:left:1:workspace-switcher@cinnamon.org' to 'panel0:left:1:workspace-swi...

Seems very promising
I know it's in an early stage, but any chance of creating a suggestions topic? There are a few things from Gnome 2 I miss in MGSE and would love to see in Cinnamon
