Re: auto mount drive

In fstab, if you have the auto option under the fourth column(mount options), it will automatically mount at reboot.
It won't automount after the computer is started and you plug in the device. Just show her how to click on it in the file manager. It's basically the same as in Windows.

Re: No sound on HDMI with Gallium 0.4 on AMD PALM

Most boxes come with hdmi muted by default. You can unmute in alsamixer(in a terminal) f6 to change cards, unmute anything that has mm under it.

You may also need to set up a config file .asoundrc using the aplay -l command.

Re: SD card automounts as a read only filesystem

You could create an entry in /etc/fstab similar to UUID=943579873489273947randomlongstring /media/sd auto rw,noauto, user, sync 0 0 Then just click in nautilus to mount. Also, that little bugger tag on the card gets switched awfully easy. Sudo blkid will show the proper uuid You'll need to make a fold...

Re: How does Upload Manager work?

It's drag and drop. You drag the files from nautilus into the little rectangle that appears and it will upload on the spot.

Re: Help getting official Nvidia driver to work

No, the 260 driver does not need the new xorg-server. I would advise against upgrading the xorg until you know for sure you are going to use the 270 driver as I believe the xorg upgrade also breaks the 260 driver.

Re: Help getting official Nvidia driver to work

The new driver(270.29) requires capabilities only found in xorg-server 1.10.0 and above. I would make sure you have that package installed before trouble shooting your xorg.conf.

Re: Lemon POS Problem

You should be able to access it at http://localhost/phpMyAdmin/ if installed on the computer your accessing it from or replace localhost with the ip address of your server if accessing from a desktop.

Re: Ok guys I need help

Oh, ok. I understand. You want to raise the levels of an already recorded video. Ffmpeg should be able to handle this. It is command line utility. You'll be looking for the -vol switch.I thought you were trying to do something like a vidcast via webcam or similar.

Re: Lemon POS Problem

Yeah, I had trouble understanding mysql(still do) but phpmyadmin makes it a lot easier. It uses a web interface. You can view a demo of it http://demo.phpmyadmin.net/master-config/. Also, a lot of people use it, so you can usually find a helpful guide.

Re: Ok guys I need help

You can raise the mic/linein volume in the sound applet under control center. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=61103&p=361311&hilit=gazza+skype#p361311 , scroll down to input for more details. If this does not work, I suggest posting the output of lspci and to be more des...

Re: libreoffice: no recent document

The libreoffice package that you have is not an official Linux Mint package. It is download from https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice . You'll have to check with those guys to see if they changed the base.(doubtful because..) I also downloaded and installed(as of 2/22/11) Libreoffice from that reposit...

Re: Lemon POS Problem

Did your ever figure this out? First thing I would check is your firewall(if you have one set up) to allow connections from localhost. Second thing is to check that mysql allows connections from localhost, this will be a configuration of the server itself, not just the database. Thirdly is to rechec...

Re: Hplip 3.11 needed

http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/hplip are packages for Natty, still not released. They are in deb format at the very bottom of the page for both 64bit and 32bit. I have no idea if these will work or if they have any dependencies not available in Mint 10. (I'd recommend building from source)

I've heard of people doing this in VMWare. It's more akin to running a hackintosh than anything else. You might want to check with those two communities.

Have you found anything out about this? I looked around but didn't find anything too interesting. There is a driver acer-wmi that was(still is?) blacklisted on the Aspire One series. I have this same problem. The power button and some of the fn keys don't work. I've figured out that the fn number pa...

Re: HOW TO: Emerald Install for 64 bit LMDE users

It hapeens because you don't have permission to edit /etc/apt/trusted.gpg. You can run that command as root or you can manually download the key. Then add it by going to Control Center>Software Sources>Authentication, Import Key. Find the key you downloaded and then close. Updates should work after ...

I would first try to disable compiz. If that doesn't work try running it in the terminal and see if you get any errors.
It could be an graphics setting.
