Re: My nitpick with Mint's approach
You know, I think that maybe MGSE version of Mint should not be the MAIN flavour anymore. I think gnome was used as a main flavour before due to personal preference of Clem, hardware use as compared to KDE, stability and completeness as compared to light stuff like XFCE/LXDE etc. However, now the ma...

Re: Linux Mint 12, and beyond?
I used Mepis11 and had it on my netbook for awhile as well. Really beautiful distro, polished and surprisingly fast on my netbook. Really the only thing I didn't like about it was its poor font rendering, but I've also seen that in Kubuntu, so it may be a KDE thing. I know that when I installed Kub...

Re: Things worth fixing for the next Xfce release
I love Mint, but I never could understand the usefulness of MintMenu. It loads longer than normal menu and takes up to 40-60% of the display width. The first thing I always did was to change it to gnome menu. For that matter, I never used default KDE menu either, I like the simple one more. I think ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
I could be wrong, but it seems that one of the biggest reasons people cite for choosing other DE's over KDE is resource usage. KDE admittedly uses more RAM (and CPU cycles) in it's standard configuration than Gnome and most others. For many people this can be a big problem. For many others using a ...

Re: Linux Mint 12, and beyond?
Mepis is a great distro. It is stable, has very good support for hardware and very light compared to other KDE distros. It has also very good battery support. Unfortunately, repositories for it ain't great. And using other deps lead me to a broken desktop. Also, it really lacks good localization. H...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
To tdockery97, And KDE is actually very good for any of the refugees from "feline OSs made by the fruit" and other OSs. If anyone ever saw KDE system settings and that of Lion/Tiger etc they look very similar. And we all know what that bottom panel in "7" is trying to immitate. T...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
I am also waiting for the mint KDE. When I saw what happenned to Fedora and Ubuntu, I started to use KDE to make sure I get used to it and the switch would be painless. For me Gnome 3 and Ubuntu (the default flavour) are not suitable. In fact we know that developers of those two decided to forget ab...

Debian 4.0
Debian 5.0

Ok, sorry, my mistake. this forum disregarded "spaces" that I put in my last post. It should be: #interface network 1 auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 192.168.1.15 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.1.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255 gateway 192.168.1.1 About your question with regards...

Re: No eth1 + no 'pewters talking to each other?
Kevin, in your etc/network/interfaces, why you don't have anything written for your eth1? Also, your eth0 is the external interface, it it should not be configured as static (usually). Now, your eth1 would need to be configured with static IP, network, broadcast, netmask. So it should be something l...

By the way, why don't you just make your minty9-server a proxy server? You can then configure computers web browsers to use IP of your minty-server as a proxy? What other data you want to go thorugh your server?
