Re: Windows 7 VS Linux mint 10 kde STARTUP TIME!

I bet if I do a fresh install of LM10KDE it would be faster than Win7. But there's no need for, I will not switch back to Windows because of some lousy seconds bootup-time more. I really enjoy my Mint10 as it is :).

Re: Windows 7 VS Linux mint 10 kde STARTUP TIME!

After reading the first post I wanted to test it myself. I always felt that LM10 was faster then Win7. Lets see: LM10 from pressing enter at GRUB to login screen: about 29 seconds WIN7 from pressing enter at GRUB to login screen: about 24 seconds LM10 from pressing enter at login screen to a ready d...

In Startup-Manager just choose "Show splash screen" and uncheck "show text", and that should be fixed :)

Re: CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE

It does stay on the release page for Mint 10 KDE that Crlt +alt+backspace is a known problem . Perhaps if there are notes included inside the distro those need to be corrected, but it does say it is a known issue. Though certainly helpful for those who want to know where it is to turn it on :) Yeah...

CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE

Hello! CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE (to restart the X-Server) isnt (as the release notes say) enabled for default. For all people who want to enable it, but dont know how: In the Keyboard-Settings , there is an Advanced-Tab . There you can enable it. I use a german version of Mint 10 KDE, so Ill translate...

Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions

Hey! I downloaded and installed the RC yesterday. Just had a few graphic issues (most of the screen was white) with the installer, but you could install it without any proiblems. First I disliked the lancelot-menu, but I got used to it very quickly. I had no real problems at all with the RC. The onl...

Re: no update possible

Hey! I guess you have the sofware source "http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu lucid main" enabled, right? In this case the update manager refuses to update because of broken packages. Then you have to update via terminal. With: sudo apt-get upgrade -f -y sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -...

Re: Auto sign-in, turn off "Wallet"

Hey ho!

I have a german version of Mint, so maybe the names of the points you have to click may differ: To automaticaly log in got to System Settings, Log In Screen, Simplification and then select Automatic Log In and the user name you want to auto log in. That does the trick :)

Hey all!

Hi @ all! I first saw Linux in action, when one of our Teachers had Ubuntu on his Laptop and showed us a program, back in 2007. I wanted to give it a try and a friend of mine, who used Kubuntu, told me to install Kubuntu too. I ran into problems with it (which I cant remember) so I installed Ubuntu ...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

I got started again on the weekend. I have had a lot of non-mint hold ups called life. And well once the main final was released the mint apps are more stable, oh and KDE 4.5.3... Oh yer and should stop asking people what they want in the disto as it takes ages to filter it all. Che...
