Re: Lost-in-the-Box

What is up with the forum? It appears that someone killed it. You can't post without having posts approved and either someone is very strict on what will be approved or there is no one to approve posts. It is sad as there isn't any place for fluxbox fans to gather.

Will LMDE ISO Ever Be Updated?

I am wanting to give LMDE a try on my new laptop. However the ISO seems to be rather old, from the beginning of the year, which is older than my laptop. It appears that my laptop requires a newer graphics driver than is in the ISO as when I run the live DVD I am getting weird graphics issues making ...

https://extensions.gnome.org/ needless to say thet is much more easier to install shell expensions on gnome-shell than some goddamn applets or extensions in cinnamon. and one more good thing about gnome-shell: have you notiticed that applets dont move its position randomly in panel as in gnome 2.xx...

Re: Cinnamon!

Cinnamon gives features similar to what was in Gnome 2 that are not in Gnome Shell. What kind of features you're talking about? Cinnamon for me is a great DE with a classical look but i never looked at features. In general, it is the customization. Like I said, I have been using Gnome Shell for awh...

I know. I am just saying that Cinnamon gives features similar to what was in Gnome 2 that are not in Gnome Shell.

Cinnamon!

I am not currently using Linux Mint (don't shoot me!). However I have heard a lot about Cinnamon and thought this morning I would install it on my Debian Sid laptop to give it a try. My impression? Awesome!! I have actually been a fan of Gnome Shell but Cinnamon takes it and improves it, combining t...

Re: Update Firefox

It appears that in a recent Mint update they removed the update button from Firefox. Until then you could update it by running it with root privileges and clicking the update button. Now it does not look like you can do this. Possibly uninstalling Mint's version and install Firefox from Mozilla woul...

Re: LMDE based on sid

I ran Sid for 6 months with only one problem and it wasn't a problem specific to Sid. Sid is actually very stable, though it does have the potential to have problems. I wouldn't use it for servers, but it seems fine for a desktop. I have been thinking about upgrading my LMDE to Sid as well.

I just installed chromium-browser from experimental http://packages.debian.org/experimental ... um-browser on my LMDE and it runs great. It is actually up to version 9.0.597.19 now.

I might have to check out frickelplatz.de.

Re: broken packages in Sid Repos

Sid, while named unstable, can still be a very stable distro, more so than some I have tried. When such things happen with missing dependencies on Sid usually all you need to do is wait a few days for those packages to be put into the repos ... usually.

Re: amazon mp3 downloader

I had this issue as well. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=62765

It was fairly easy to fix. Just download and install the older files from Lenny.

Re: Fatsest Desktop Environment for LMDE....

I use Fluxbox. It is fast and can easily be configured. I use some things from Gnome, which probably slows things down just a little but it is still fast and I have things the way I like it.

Creating the symlink worked. I am not sure why it changed as it was working fine the other day.

The version is an upgraded version.
