:D I got the solution. I tried all kind of suggestion found at KDE forum, but had no results. I intended to have an option to Kde and installed xfce. It was very nice to see it login in fast. After password, I receive the following message: (process:283): Glib WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id(0) I have to reboot, use recovery mode, log in text mode and use startx to enter KDE. That is okay, I just want to make 1 suggestion: Could you edit your posts containing the log files and put the log files in code brackets? Just click on the code button above and then cut and paste them such that they encompass the file contents. That makes the posts and the thread better readable....

(1) Was it a "foreign .deb" package? Yes, I downloaded it from libreoffice site. It was a .tar full of .debs. That could be a problem UNLESS you just uninstall it if you can. I have just uninstalled it using synaptic. I chose complete remotion. did it then install cleanly, or did it give errors/war...
