Problem with adding PPA

I'm running Linux Mint 20.1 Xfce 4.14.2
I'm trying to install Banshee, but when I try to add the PPA

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa
I get
Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support focal''.
How can I remedy this issue?

Re: Frozen at boot/login

But what could possibly cause that? I haven't changed any settings for several months.

Frozen at boot/login

I'm running Linux Mint 19.1 xfce. The problem occurred when I logged out of a username into the gui login screen. Screen went black, underscore cursor blinking in the top left corner of the screen. I cannot type or do anything on this screen. I can switch to other screens (ctrl+alt+F1-F6). I tried r...

xscreensaver command line

I want to setup two launchers, one to disable the screen saver and one to enable. looking through the man page I see the option -mode So I would guess that... xscreensaver -mode off xscreensaver -mode one ...should work, but I'm getting syntax errors. So what am I missing? https://www.commandlinux.c...

[solved] How to stop saving sessions between logins/reboots

Linuxmint 19.1 xfce In the past, I've checked "save session for future logins" on the shutdown screen. I now have unchecked it, but it's still reopening applications when I restart. How do I "reset" so that I can start up with a fresh login (without reinstall or creating new user)?

Re: Computer can see WiFi/Ethernet, but unable to connect to anything.

So a little bit of googling around leads me to believe I need to downgrade the driver from r8169 to r8168. From the sound of it the newer driver is somewhat unstable. So I downloaded the older driver from GitHub. https://github.com/airium/Realtek-PCIe-GBE-NIC-Driver Problem now is the commands given...

Computer can see WiFi/Ethernet, but unable to connect to anything.

I'm running a new install of 19.3 xfce. After startup Ethernet doesn't work (though it sees that there's an available connection) and it cannot connect to WiFi (even though it sees available networks). If I click on either option, it just times out.

Re: No signal after monitor restart

Ok, so I narrowed it down to the OS and probably not hardware. Linuxmint 18 (xfce 64) runs without problem in regards to switching inputs/restarting the TV. Linuxmint 18.3 (xfce 64) seems to be the culprit. How can I revert the video settings of 18.3 back to 18? Edit:. I would just use 18, but in th...

No signal after monitor restart

The issue I'm having is when I power on the computer/TV, initially everything works perfectly. But if I restart the TV or switch inputs then all of a sudden there's no signal. Unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable back in does nothing, the only way to get a signal back is restarting the computer ...

error message with repositories

So I recently reinstalled mint 10 on my netbook, but when I try to install anything from the repos I get an error. I don't want to update to a newer mint, I've tried and it doesn't handle as smoothly as 10. But I am curious as to why it doesn't work anymore. The error is as follows: sudo apt-get ins...

Re: outputting script results into terminal

Humor me for a moment, you copied and pasted everything literally ? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I had a good laugh with that. I might be a n00b, but I'm not a N00B! Yes I removed the ellipses. ;) That and this time I tried changing it to bash, which worked... well enough. I was hoping to have the command p...

Re: outputting script results into terminal

2. From Nautilus (the file manager) double-click the script, and choose Run as Script (IIRC). This shows you the output, but the terminal closes once the script finishes. So add a line at the end of your script to pause for user input: read -p "Press enter to continue..." -s It doesn't sh...

outputting script results into terminal [SOLVED]

This question has two parts to it. I've typed out a simple script that I'll run (not every time) when I boot into the GUI, but I'm running into a few hiccups. First part is that none of the outputs of these commands show up in terminal, not even cd. So I was wondering what I need to add to the scrip...
