Setting custom resolutions for dummy HDMI dongles

So I'm going to try Immersed again, a VR application to use Desktops through a VR headset, and when I did it last Linux Mint Cinnamon I could highlight the screen resolution and put what ever I wanted for the monitor that was through the dummy HDMI dongle. Back then I could put 5760x1080p, which wou...

Re: Anyone have a 6800U machine?

Ah, yeah, I upgraded my kernel to the latest trying to fix my USB problem. I'll work on it when I get home. Thanks for the help, I'll post again with an update.

Anyone have a 6800U machine?

I was wondering what the driver support was for AMD's 6800U. I got the Winmax2 and Linux has been giving me a headache. I got it because of it's size, I want to take it bicycle touring to edit videos. I haven't had much luck with it, I don't game that much so I haven't been motivated to get it runni...

Won the Newegg shuffle!

I won (the chance to pay retail for) a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 VISION OC 24GB Video Card, GV-N3090VISION OC-24GD. What Linux games will push it? I only buy games on Steam that run in Linux as a principle but I guess if there are no games that will push my card I could try out proton. With this muc...

Re: can't install blender

you've set the ppa to the right version for your LM install right? Looks like most (all) of those packages are in it (BUT they might conflict / not be installable for other reasons). I didn't, not sure why, I'll look into that. What's wrong with the version direct from blender.org? As I recall, it'...

can't install blender

I want the latest version of blender but I don't want to install flathub as that always changes where things are and following tutorials are difficult. So the best maintaned PPA is https://launchpad.net/~savoury1/+archive/ubuntu/blender, I added that PPA no problem and it prompted me to update some ...

bluetooth audio choppy

So I was running Pop! OS on my system76 notebook and an aftershocks bluetooth headset worked flawlessly. I was running Mint on it before I got the headset so I'm not sure if it ran or not. I got a mini PC that uses mobile parts and the bluetooth audio was horrible so I swapped out the bluetooth card...

Scrolling around the windows on systems that are 640x480

So my display is stuck at 640x480 and every window is higher than that so I can only see the top left of a settings window, if that makes sense. I want to use GUI to upgrade the kernel and graphic drivers to fix this problem and I remember there was a keyboard shortcut to scroll around windows but c...

Re: Decoding error on live iso

Ok, I can get in but I'm installing on a AMD APU and I guess the open source drivers don't work yet so the resolution is something really low and I can't see the entire window so I can't see all the options and hitting tab to the next option is just a guess what is being selected. Isn't there a hot ...

Re: Decoding error on live iso

Update the BIOS on the motherboard,if available. But do it carefully,if not done properly your system will be bricked. This was one of the first things I did actually. I think I just had to use a DVD to install for whatever reason. I just ordered a SATA to USB adapter with a power brick so I can us...

Re: Decoding error on live iso

Yep, the previous version of Linux Mint is a no-go. It has to be something with my motherboard I'm guessing. I have had linux mint installed for so long and just kept upgrading it I only vaguely remember I did have to install with a DVD or something or I have a really old usb stick that was 4 GB whe...

Re: Decoding error on live iso

Ok, I tried a different way to boot it, I used a SD card instead, and got farther. When selecting to start Linux Mint from the menu I get this: error: failure reading sector 0x0 from 'hd0'. error: you need to load the kernel first. I have installed Linux Mint on this machine before, not sure what is...

Decoding error on live iso

I get this error when trying to boot into the live USB to install: Initramfs unpacking faled: Decoding failed pci 0000:00:00.Z: AMD-Vi: Unable to read/write to IOMMU perf counter I think this is what it says, it is fast and I had to do a video with my phone and it's blurry. Re: Can't transfer large files or large amounts of data, still. [SOLVED]

I'm just wondering, because I have the same problem, did you replace your memory with the exact same memory? Did you do a memory test on boot to find out if the memory went bad? The reason I asked is because I built a system and I always get timing issues with my memory when I build with a gaming mo...

[Solved] Ryzen graphics slow (3400G)

Hey, I built a new system, got Mint installed, everything works and is stable but gaming performance sucks. In system info it lists the correct processor and under the Graphics Card it lists Advanced Micro Devices, Inc [AMD/ATI] Picasso. I get the graphics driver prompt when I start up but when I op...

Re: no audio captured with USB HDMI capture device.

Ok, got it working. What I had to do was go into preferences and put the input for the mic to the capture device. So, the capture audio on OBS is played through what it thinks is the mic. I don't know if this makes ANY sense, but it was the only way of doing it. Then I can select ANOTHER mic source ...

Re: no audio captured with USB HDMI capture device.

if you get no audio from hdmi the first thing to try is unplug your hdmi wait a few seconds and plug it back in. in Terminal run pulseaudio -k and wait about 6 seconds for the new sound cookies to be regenerated and last it seems that opening the sound settings kickstarts audio. click your volume i...

[SOLVED]no audio captured with USB HDMI capture device.

I asked on the OBS forums and sent Magewell an email, but heck, I'll try here also since I'm using Mint and maybe it is a setting on my OS. . . So I have a Magewell USB Capture HDMI Plus and the video is great but I'm not getting audio. There is an headphone jack on the device, and I'm getting audio...

Re: software for changing logitech webcam settings

I don't mind the command line, I think I have to shutdown the video source, apply settings, and then reopen it. I just wanted to see the affects in real time to adjust them. I guess it isn't that bad really, at least I can adjust settings!
