Re: Certain Applications crash Gnome Shell after installing
See? It's obvious. One extension (weather-extension) shows a warning and another (panel-docklet) throws an exception. Panel-docklet is probably incompatible with Gnome Shell 3.8 and should be removed. If it doesn't help, get rid of weather-extension too. I think those were messages from earlier ses...

Re: [SOLVED] using gnome-shell and cinnamon on same install?
Theme might be an issue. I experienced that the wrong / incompatible theme can screw up your desktop quite nicely. I do like to play with themes though. Under GS I currently use: shell theme: darkair GTK+ theme: GnomishDark Icon theme: Kalahari-Dark ChocoDarkOrange current theme: Adwaita Under Cinn...

Re: Certain Applications crash Gnome Shell after installing
Hi All, I'm facing the same problem. Unfortunately removing extensions (as packages and from home dir) didn't solve my problem. Shell starts fine, but gnome-tweak-tool and some others crash it. Any ideas how I can trace the cause of the problem? Here is my .xsession-errors (it has more messages then...

Certain app (and extensions) cause crashes and I'm forced to log out, and gnome is loaded again without extension (for safety). Can you please ...

Computer suspends after 10 min on watching videos

So far I tried many remedies but nothing helps. 1) I tried both cinnamon and gnome shell - no difference. 2) I was able to disable screensaver (it was bl...

Re: How to hibernate Linux Mint LMDE XFCE & GNOME
Hi all,
I had another configuration without swap partition and with swap file. Some steps would differ in this case and it's described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1042946
May be someone else will gain from it too

Re: High one way network traffic with strange addresses
Thanks for advices. rkhunter didn't find anything too. Yes I'm mostly on default installation, tried to do minimal changes to main system. But my system was installed 2 years ago and get through all upgrades. It works nicely, even got through gnome update :) ufw is in default state, i.e. turned off....

Do you mean samba? I didn't configure it by myself. Just used default settings. And there is a link in nautilus for network were other computers can be seen. So I can possibly answer yes, it's been set up.

By the way, there is a guide to installing debian onto usb devices, but it doesn't mention any such issues:

It may be helpful for someone.

Install onto USB-flashdrive fails
Hi, all! I'm trying to install linux mint onto usb-flashdrive in order to use my customized workspace wherever I'll need. But I've encountered strange behavior: I'm booting from liveCD (I tried LMDE and LM 10 RC) and choosing 16Gb usb-flash partitioned in half (for root and home) as ext2 (tried ext4...
