Re: Installing Mint--dual boot
Follow capivara's advice. Forget Windows XP. It is unsupported by Microsoft and is no longer safe to use. As far as drivers are concerned, Linux and Linux Mint in particular are very good at providing drivers in most instances. After you install Mint and you still have a driver issue, someone here w...

Re: "Yeah, but only a relatively few people really use linux
I wonder if that 1 - 1.5 % includes the Linux users who dual boot with Windows. Not everyone throws out Windows to only use Windows. I've been dual booting for 12 years. I admit I'm only a part-time Linux user and a KDE fan in particular. Count me in, even for a fraction of a per cent. Thanks for th...

Re: What are the pros and cons of multiple partitions for 1
I can't attest to the purpose of a separate boot partition, but I always recommend a separate swap partition, giving the operating system room to expand temporary memory when needed and a home partition which is where all the configuration files are stored, your personal data, the applications that ...

Re: Mouse Problem
Often for me, opening the battery compartment, rotating the batteries a little bit fixes the connections to the mouse and the mouse is good to go.

Re: All Desktop Screenshots - August 2014
I don't change much on my KDE desktop. I change the theme to Oxygen soon after an install. I add a few app buttons to the panel and the panel remains on the bottom by default. For wallpapers I use the default desktop setting with a slideshow from a folder of wallpapers I've download over the years. ...

I install PysolFC Edition on every Linux distro. Pysol has tons of mahjongg and solitaire games. This should be in the repository.

Re: How did you coin your screen name
I drove big trucks for a few years. Trucks ride on highways, so the 'hiway' part. I live in Indiana, so the 'in' part. Added together gets you inhiway. I used gahiway when I lived in Georgia. I never was very good at making up screen names. lol

Re: NVidia GeForce GT 430 not being recognized! Please help!
I will leave help and advise to those who know what they are talking about, but I just want to let you know that this chipset does work well with every Linux distro I've tried including my currently installed Mint 12 and Kubuntu 11.10. I use the latest or near latest nVidia drivers. The adapter card...
