I'm posting from an Asus using a BCM4352, using Cinnamon. I found the working driver with "Driver Manager", in the "Administation" category of the menu.

Did you check the "Enable mouseclicks with touchpad" box, in the "Mouse and Touchpad" section of "Settings"? (It took me a while to notice it, too)

I haven't used any variety of Mint in a long while.. LMDE foud my wifi & connected this netbook to it, on the first attempt! I like the looks of Cinnamom & have been very happy how light it runs!
