Re: Video quality changes

Solved:

Is a matter of the video player app used; using Kodi, video quality is far superior, than VLC and Celuloide for a 4K TV

I just installed a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, on a Samsung Q70R TV 65", using Mint 20, Intel© Core™ i3-6100 CPU @ 3.70GHz × 2 What I observe when playing videos in my PC, is: 1. When watching 4K YouTube videos, quality in color and image smoothness, is just great; almost (yet not as good...

Re: New video card. Some blinks in movies....

I think I found the cause of CPU overload: PulseEffects... I deactivate it when playing the movie, and the CPU load goes a bit down, making things easier for the video processing...

With this, I'm thinking to upgrade my CPU... or getting an old good equalizer for my sound system

Re: New video card. Some blinks in movies....

Thank you... I did the modifications recommended; if in the start, the problem was a 10... now has reduced to a 2 or 3. I observe the following: 1. What I see is that for some movies (MKV file format), the 4 CPU processors are at 60 to 80% average, whatever the movie scene is... For other mkv files ...

The file should be saved to /etc/X11/xorg.conf in step 4.

Reboot. All done.
Thank you; yet... the problem is still there :?

About to change the videocard. What is to be done?

Hi,

I'm about to replace an old GeForce GT 220 by a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB. I have Mint 20; the replace would go as for a Plug & Play in Windows? or, should I do something to prepare the change in OS configure, before do it so display can work properly, when the change is done?

Thx

Re: Video card recommendations

Question, when I replace the video card, Mint will detect it and automatically re adjust image, switching the old configuration to a new configuration? Like kind of plug and play of Windows?

Re: Video card recommendations

Thank you About 4 years ago I upgraded the PC motherboard to a Gigabyte GA-Z170M. As I read on the users manual, it has pci 3.0 ports. So I assume there will be no problem adapting a good, modern video card? The PC's cpu is an Intel i3. The question is, the video card does all the video processing, ...

Hi, I just got a Samsung Q70R 4K TV; first time I get the experience of a Smart TV, and UHD image; nice experience, coming from an old Full HD Samsung TV (2011). When viewing videos through the TV Apps, like YouTube, Prime Video, image processing is superb by the TV. Yet when I connect my Mint 20 PC...

Re: Mint 19.2: Excellent sound quality

Hi alquimista. I would think it's just some configs were a little different. 19.2 Mint has the same sound base as Kubuntu 18.04. You could probably get Kubuntu to sound as good, but, well, you're on Mint now, so why bother? :D It'd be nice how to replicate the config. Long time ago I tested Manjaro...

Mint 19.2: Excellent sound quality

I used to have Kubuntu Linux as my base OS. Yet, few months ago, I installed Linux Mint 19.2 Tina on my main PC, that is connected to a Yamaha AS-301 amplifier, with and old Yamaha EQ-32 Equalizer. My God... the sound quality with Mint 19.2 was faaaar superior to the latest Kbuntu version sound. I'm...

(SOLVED) How to clone a partition?

Hi, I have mint 19.2 installed in Partition A, and I want to have it copied to Partition B. Of course, when booting, I'd like to see the entries for partitions A and B. In Partition A, I already have some data, apps installed and Cinnammon configs I want to replicate in B . What is the easiest, fast...

Mint 19.2; some impressions

I have been using Mint 18 Cinnamon since it was released, and have had it as my backup system (it allays works). My main distro for the last 10 months has been Kubuntu LTS. I just installed Mint Cinnamon 19.2. Compared vs Mint 18, I can say: - In my hardware, Mint 18 is a bit faster, for initial boo...

Hi, I have my desktop running Mint 18 Cinnamon, and a laptop running Win 10. I need to read files from a shared directory I have in Win 10. Following tutorials, I setup to share this directory in Win 10 (named "test"), under "Read" permissions for "Everyone". Then, in M...

Re: Have someone here tested Elementary?

I have tested it. Has nice functions... But is from my perspective, very flat... Not very configurable, very black and white... Some non official apps juts don't work well (like VLC), is very slow loading apps like thunderbird or Firefox, sound quality is not very good. There are additional command ...
