(SOLVED) How to clone a partition?

Hi, I have mint 19.2 installed in Partition A, and I want to have it copied to Partition B. Of course, when booting, I'd like to see the entries for partitions A and B. In Partition A, I already have some data, apps installed and Cinnammon configs I want to replicate in B . What is the easiest, fast...

Mint 19.2; some impressions

I have been using Mint 18 Cinnamon since it was released, and have had it as my backup system (it allays works). My main distro for the last 10 months has been Kubuntu LTS. I just installed Mint Cinnamon 19.2. Compared vs Mint 18, I can say: - In my hardware, Mint 18 is a bit faster, for initial boo...

First time, connecting Win 10 and Mint 18: want to read files from Win

Hi, I have my desktop running Mint 18 Cinnamon, and a laptop running Win 10. I need to read files from a shared directory I have in Win 10. Following tutorials, I setup to share this directory in Win 10 (named "test"), under "Read" permissions for "Everyone". Then, in Mint's command prompt, this is ...

Re: Have someone here tested Elementary?

I have tested it. Has nice functions... But is from my perspective, very flat... Not very configurable, very black and white... Some non official apps juts don't work well (like VLC), is very slow loading apps like thunderbird or Firefox, sound quality is not very good. There are additional command ...

Have someone here tested Elementary?

Hi, I tested latest version of Elementary OS... Versión 5.in a VM was terribly slow with the default ram setting. I tested it with then booting from a DVD... When testing the browser, playing a video from the internet... The system crashed... All got frozen. Got to reset the PC. I have tested severa...

Re: Upgrade from mint 18 to 19. Worthy?

Alquimista, if everything works fine in LM18 I would advice you to stay with what works. Because LM19 still has got some bugs in it. I have had 6 crashes with LM19 and had none with LM18. Best wait till LM19.1. is released somewhere in the new year. Hopefully more bugs will have been repaired in th...

Re: Playing with KDE distros....Neon

Having used kde neon for a while as my base OS, there was an update available of VLC. I did update it and booom, all OS crashed. Could not restart it. How a simple app update crashed the OS? I decided to come back to Mint Cinnamon 18.0, I always had it as backup. Rock solid

Simple way to connect a laptop to a desktop, via network cable

Hi.

I want to transfer lot of files from a laptop using windows 10, to a desktop on mint 18. What is the easiest way to do it using network cable? Will mint will recognize the laptop in windows, and will be able to read files there? I'm not very techy

Upgrade from mint 18 to 19. Worthy?

I have had version 18 cinnamon for a while now on a desktop PC. All is perfectly stable. Would there be a good reason to upgrade to version 19?

Playing with KDE distros....Neon

I have been playing with KDE Neon

After some fine tunning (non major), I got it stable and installed in one of my partitions. Lately I have tested Manjaro KDE, Mint KDE. Neon so far has been for me, the best one these 3 KDE distros tests I have done

Re: Where to report Nemo, Banshee issues?

No development is being done so there isn't anybody to report bugs to. In my opinion the distro maintainers are doing their users a disservice by letting dead software rot in their repositories. It should be removed. Linux Mint no longer installs Banshee by default; Rhythmbox is the default now Ok ...

(SOLVED) Where to report Nemo, Banshee issues?

Hi, I'm testing other distros, like KDE Neon; there I installed Nemo and Banshee, yet both have execution issues in Neon; I see Banshee is not in development any more; Nemo is a Nautilus extension for Mint. Where is the best place to report these issues, and see of a possible solution, or bug fixing...

(solved} How to restore Mint boot menu

Hi, I have 3 installed distros, being the main one Mint 18 Cinnamon. One of the distros I installed for test purposes is Neon KDE; sadly was not very stable and I'm about to replace it. The problem is that Neon installed its own grub menu, and now even within Mint 18 using "sudo update-grub", I cann...

Re: Mint Cinammon 18; Wireless problems after update?

OK, ,I have just tested this situation in 3 more distros:

1) Mint 18.1 KDE
2) Mint 17.3
3) Neon KDE

1 and 2 fails, just as Mint 18. With Neon, WiFi works just fine, with the expected speed. So... is it the driver Mint is using for my net card, that is not working properly? :?

Mint Cinammon 18; Wireless problems

Hi, I have been operating fine with Wireless on this new Desktop PC, where even wireless card is new. Starting today, signal has been breaking, and when connected, speed is about 1 Mbps or less when it should yield around 10 MBps. My Android Cell, almost on the same location, catches WiFi perfectly ...
