Hi Fred. I still have in mind your great tutorial to get rid of deb multimedia repo in LMDE2. Maybe you will update it to fit LMDE3 ?

For sure, I'll do that. :) Cheers!
Many thanks in advance! & Looking forward to it!

No you will not be able to boot as you expect. The correct input is:

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub
Mind the hyphen!!

Re: Akoya PC

@deepakdeshp: Thanks for the link! No, I did not buy a machine (yet?) and test-possibilities are scarce: Akoya is offered by Aldi here (as Medion) & only offered online. Equivaelnt type-numbers of Medion and Akoya are easily found however, so that's not the problem.

Akoya PC

Sorry if I prove to be a poor topic-finder, but has anyone experience installing Linux (Mint|ubuntu) on a recent Medion/Akoya PC ( not on a laptop / netbook, please) If so, can you give me some information: # Model / type of AkoyaPC # ease of installation # erased MS-Widows / dualboot / multiboot # ...

Re: Driver for ASUS USB AC51 Dongle

I signed up for notification on this thread. I bought an TP-link Archer T2U (same chipset) a few months ago and did not manage to get it working whichever advise I googled and followed. (and believe me, on this dongle you get a lot of non-working answers in google) For short: I gave up. (LinuxMint 1...

Just to reflect upon an old saying: "Fix it until it's broken; if you can't fix it, don't break it!" :)

Re: Driver manager has disappeared

Turns out something bad was happening to my installation.
For my (our?) information: how was that bad induced; by you or by something/someone from the outside? For the moment just curious (but extremely so)!

Re: Installing Mint as dual-boot on old WinXP laptop

@Brainstorm: I have two old machines (bought in 2008 (local shop, no brand) resp 2009 (Sony laptop) both were XP-machines. 2 1/2 year ago I deleted XP after installing Linux Mint MATE-desktop on both. Very fine machines since then. In my opinion it's the Desktop environment that is decisive for the ...

Don't know the answer.
However I always make an image of my whole HDD the very moment I start doubting its integrity. Advise you to take the same attitude and precaution at least to this disk!

A wild shot: Ever tried to plug all computer-connected apparatus in the same wall-socket? (Thus excluding earth-loops) This gave me the thought (I had such a noise once myself): In my case the noise is only when I plug in a second monitor (actually, I mostly use a projector; this is all for movie ni...

Re: Need for Marco

As far as I - a relative newbee - understand Debian-based systems, you have mixed up the hidden files, which contain all settings of the system( s in this case), of your two systems. Those files are in the HOME-directory and can be made visible by hitting Control-H. No, unfortunately I can't give yo...
