Aside from the issues of the Nvidia driver, it appears there may be a problem with Intel in your system right now. Intel is showing as the gpu. I didn't notice that! I could fix this issue successfully using Software Sources -> Downgrade foreign packages after disabling the stupid PPAs

Silly me; It's important to mention that I can see Authentication showmessage as shown below but after input the password it fails to launch the executable (it works if I input the same command in the terminal
