Re: udev beginner needs help
Actually what I did do is this....This could be what some other people are looking for. I had PCLOS KDE Plasma also installed along side Mint Cinnamon. So I logged into PCLOS and opened Dolphin file manager. I still didn't have permissions to do what I wanted to do. So, I closed Dolphin; opened Kons...

Hello from LA (lower alabama)
I am new to Linux Mint. I now have it installed on my desktop and an old laptop. I have used Linux since 2007. I have mostly used PCLOS but lately I needed help connecting to a new printer. Mint provided what I needed and was very easy to set up and get to working. I am well pleased with it. Great w...

Re: [solved]Share files between linux desktop and linux lapt
Something that I did really messed up my system. First I was getting the "software rendering mode". I did some searching in the forum and tried part of that solution. Then I decided to re-install Mint Cinnamon. Now during boot all I see is white and purple text that keeps scrolling. If i t...

Re: Share files between linux desktop and linux laptop
May I ask you you aren't using the file sharing system built into Cinnamon? Thanks for the advice. It sounds more involved than I would have come up with on my own. I may give it a try. I am always willing to learn more useful things about these computer things. My knowlege is lacking in many areas...

Re: Share files between linux desktop and linux laptop
Why not instaling Copy.com or Dropbox on both systems? If you upload your files to a cloud storage server and install the client on both systems, the advantage you have is that your files are stored on 1 location and accessible from multiple locations. And any file you modify/edit on 1 system will ...

Re: third page of install shows no drives or partitions
Didn't look close enough at the results. My bad. Pretty sure that I used Gparted to do the partitioning. I have been thinking... Kinda dangerous for me. I have been using Rufus when in Win 7 to create USB drives from isos and been using the partition scheme MBR. I am trying it again using GPT partit...

Re: third page of install shows no drives or partitions
I see that the partition table is mac. Does this mean that I need to re-install everything with a different partition table?
If so, how do I define which partition table to use and which is the best to use for multiboot?
I would like to keep Win 7 as well as Linux.

Code: Select all
parted -l
-bash: parted: command not found
[root@localhost ~]# inxi -zv7

Re: third page of install shows no drives or partitions
Did you remove Windows or is it a dual/triple boot? You might have to boot into Windows and turn off "Fast Boot" Do you have GPT partitioning? No, I didn't remove Windows. I am not familiar with 'Fast Boot'. I will try to get information and check this out. Not sure what GPT partitioning ...
