Problems with booting through Windows

I posted this question several weeks ago: I have Linux Mint 14 on my HP computer. For some reason, with Wubi it gives me three choices: Windows7 Linux Mint 14 Linux Mint 14 When I want to boot into Mint, I usually choose the first Linux Mint. Often it boots to Mint with no problem at all. Other time...

Re: Booting throug WUBI

I am not sure what you meant.... You said.... You can either use the Windows commandline programe bcdedit in order to do so. Or you can use EasyBCD. I have no idea how to use the Windows command line or what I need to do with it. You also said... In order to diagnose this it may be necessary to insp...

Re: Questiion about wi-fi in Mint vs. Lubuntu

Perhaps you can download the latest version of Mint and use a Live DVD to check if wi-fi works seamlessly. If your hardware is readily recoginzed then you could go ahead with installtion. As pointed out by @TehGhodTrole, hardware specifics will help. You can also check if your laptop is listed in h...

Booting throug WUBI

Re: Questiion about wi-fi in Mint vs. Lubuntu

(That question CAN be answered if Mint uses the exact same drivers as Lubuntu or Ubuntu. That is what I want to know.) If Mint does not have the same drivers, I need to know that as well. I doubt anyone would be so compulsively obsessive as to want to determine whether or not "Mint uses the ex...

Questiion about wi-fi in Mint vs. Lubuntu

I posted this topic a couple of days ago, and all I got was one sarcastic response that wa not very helpful, so I am rewording it and reposting it again. Hopefully, this time I can get some kind of a sincere answer: I have lubuntu set up on my HP 2000 laptop through WUBI and everything works well. I...

Re: Mint vs. Lubuntu in wi-fi

I am not just complaining. It is a sincere question. I can't give specifics because the machines I had problems with I am no longer using. What I am asking is if I should go to the trouble of deleting my current lubuntu OS and replacing it with Linux Mint. Does Linux Mint have the same drivers for w...

Mint vs. Lubuntu in wi-fi

I have lubuntu set up on my HP 2000 laptop through WUBI and everything works well. I have noticed that, for the last couple of years, every flavor of Ubuntu I have ever used (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu, and Xubuntu) has recognized my wi-fi and I have connected with no trouble. Yet when I have tried sw...

How can Linux Mint recognize my HP Officejet printer?

Supposedly HPLIP is already installed in Linux Mint. But I sure can't find it ANYWHERE. I have an HP officjet 6500. I have no idea how to configure Linux Mint so that it will recognize it. I have been to CUPS and I have read numerous forum questions and answers, but to no avail. I switched from Ubun...

Problem with sound in Mint 10

I have not idea why this problem keeps recurring, but I have no sound whenever I log in to Linux Mint. I have tried this solution and one other by typing this in the terminal: sudo killall pulseaudio sudo alsa force-reload Then I restart my computer, and it works fine. But when I log out, then log b...
