[Solved]Re: Uninstall search.hmyquickconverter

Thank all of you for your quick response to my post. I followed the suggestions above and first I was not able to find anything pertinent in the hidden mozilla profiles file. I ended up going to firefox add-ons manager (menu -upper right corner) then to "extensions" I first disabled the extension la...

Re: LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

When booting in UEFI mode the boot information is stored in the computer's NVRAM and in the ESP (EFI System Partition). When booting in Legacy mode the boot information is stored in the MBR which points to the / partition. Thanks ffor the enlightment. This is the first I've been exposed to uefi boot.

Re: LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

Did you try Darko's suggestion? My issue isn't booting the DVD. I can boot the DVD in either mode without a problem. This is really weird behavior but I have two boot menus. One menu was created when i installed Ubuntu-mate 15.1 on one partition in the legacy mode and the other when I installed lmd...

Re: LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

If you set your BIOS to boot the live Mint in Legacy mode, you still might be booting Mint in UEFI mode if there is some hard-to-find setting in your BIOS, or if your computer is one of the many which has faulty, poorly designed BIOS (EFI) firmware. It may help to know the command you can run after...

Re: LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

I booted the lmde2 DVD in the legacy mode but the installer still wouldn't proceed without the efi boot partition. So I succumbed since this apparently is new technology we are going to have to learn and get used to. I formatted sda1 as fat32 set it to mount as /efi-boot, flagged it as bootable and ...

Re: LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

Is your Windows 10 installed in Legacy mode or UEFI mode? You can boot into Windows and check using these instructions - Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type msinfo32 , and press Enter. In the right pane of System Summary in System Information, see if the BIOS Mode value says Leg...

Re: LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

my problem isn't booting the dvd --it boots just fine. It's when I run the install that the instructions call for setting the mount point for the first partition as /efi-boot and to format that partition as vfat. Gparted has no option for formatting as "vfat" so i formatted it as fat32, which I thou...

LMDE2 Reinstall with efi-boot partition

I stupidly broke my installation of LMDE2 which was an LMDE upgrade so I didn't have to reinstall grub at the time. So now i need to reinstall LMDE2 (I have HOME on a separate partition) I started to reinstall from a DVD and when the instructions said to reformat my 1st partition, sda1, as EFI-boot ...

Re: installing PPAs

Is there something in particular you need it for? I've changed GRUB settings manually before--it's not usually too hard. Of course, I don't know your situation. I could change the settings manually--- I have done it before and somewhere in my docs i have the commands needed ==I'll have to dig them ...

Re: installing PPAs

Thanks for the quick response. I really like Betsy and the PPA issue is not important enough to dissuade me from it. I currently have four other Mint systems and Windows 7 (which I rarely use) on my machine so i have a lot of flexibility. Juist for curiosities sake, what is to prevent putting grub c...

installing PPAs

I'm running LMDE2 and am trying to install the ppa for grub customiser and I get this: charley@lmde2:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer [sudo] password for charley: Adding PPAs is not supported charley@lmde2:~$ Is this unique to LMDE2? I've had no problems with Isadora,...

Re: HDMI missconfig after upgrade?

I am getting the same results with VGA instead of HDMI1. running LDME2 (upgraded from LDME1). The system won't boot normally --the boot is interrupted with the message from the monitor re the "wrong resolution". However the system boots flawlessly in the recovery mode. My system is 64 bit lmde2 mate.

Bluetooth not on Qiana Mate menu

Bluetooth is not on my menu. I checked synaptic and it shows up as installed so reinstalled it and it still doesn't show. What is the executable command to invoke it? I have tried "bluetooth" in the terminal but get a "command not found" message.
