Re: minty radio?

There is http://www.mintcast.org/ which I enjoy. I download the pod-casts to listen to at my convenience. I don't know about a live radio show. I know some IRC channels host a DJ session which is neat. Not a bad idea to link the two together. Could be fun.

Re: Can't add user installed program to the "Open With" menu

Thank you Flemur,

I'm poking around .local/share/applications and see that the Maxview desktop configuration file is there. It does not have the .desktop extension. I will look further into this and try to figure out the syntax to add it to mimeapps.list and have it associated with .max files.

Can't add user installed program to the "Open With" menu

Running LMDE UDP 5, cinnamon DE. I installed the program maxview from a .deb package as it is not in the repositories. I created a launch item in the Menu. I am now trying to associate the program with .max files. (paperport files). The program does not show up as an option in the "Open With&qu...

Re: Not given a choice at boot up of Linux or Windows

I have only had this problem when my laptop is connected to a second monitor or the TV and the monitor or TV is not turned on. Grub shows up on the external screen and of course is defaulted to Mint. If you are hooked up to a second monitor or TV, make sure it is on.

Re: Format Hard drive, install win7, reinstall mint

You could probably use the live Mint CD/DVD, open Gparted and delete all of the partitions. Windows should then recognize an empty drive. Windows sometimes won't show a drive with ext* partitions. Or use gparted to delete and then create a NTFS partition and an ext* or empty partition for Mint to in...

Wow, folks sure get impatient around here. Not everyone has the same hardware as you folks are running. One of you stated that they have an Acer Travelmate. Please see the following: http://askubuntu.com/questions/50451/error-fixing-recursive-fault-but-reboot-is-needed Take note of the bootline sugg...

I'm experiencing the same problem in FF - Mint 12 Cinnamon DE, FF 10.0.2

I thought that FF was recently updated and didn't notice this until you brought it up.

Re: Linux mint internet issues! HELP!!!

I did not see too many good reviews for that network adapter. Rosewill makes cheap standard wireless PCI adapters that work on my Linux machines. If this is a desktop machine, unless I'm mising something, your lspci does not show any network adapter. If yours is built in, then maybe it just no longe...

Re: background folder has a leak

I have not tried to track down the config file associated with that program. My guess is that either there is limit to how many file names it will store or an update just overwrites it to the original. Or a Gremlin. No matter, as long as you got it working.

Re: Multifunction Printer Driver

Try installing "Simple Scan" from the repository, if it is not already installed. The scanner may be just fine, it may just need a program to recognize and use it. I would also try to import an image through gimp or open office and see if the scanner is listed as an option. My scanner work...

Re: background folder has a leak

When adding background photos to Mint 9 I usually run nautilus as administrator, drop my photos into /usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint. Then open the "Appearance Preferences" program by right clicking on the desktop, choose add, navigate to the above mentioned folder and choose a photo. Thi...

Re: UPDATES NOT?

It appears there are no updates to apply. You should see a nice green check mark on the update manager shield sitting on your taskbar. If you have a taskbar. This would be good. The first command basically downloaded a list of what files are available with their version numbers and replaced the old ...

Re: how to get rid of this one last password annoyance?

Have you tried accessing your wireless connection chose edit and check the little box that says Allow for all users, or some such language? I believe it will disconnect and then reconnect to the network after committing. I think that is how I resolved this issue with my laptops and wireless connecte...

Re: Remote Connection to Linux Machine - HOW TO?

I think the first problem is what you mentioned in the original post. You are trying to boot up the machine with no monitor. This is sometimes referred to as headless. I have not been able to successfully boot up any Mint versions without a monitor connected to the machine. I'm not sure the OS would...

You might not have waited long enough for a reply. You also could try posting to the hardware section of the forum. I am using the HP 6500 wireless and have no trouble printing. After enabling the wireless on the printer and entering the WEP password, the router assigns it an IP address on my networ...

Re: Problem with linux mint 7 (gloria)

I think Gloria is no longer supported. I believe support stopped around the end of 2010. Mint 9 "Isadora" is the latest LTS version.
