Mint 19 Mate 64 bit ver2 installs and runs perfectly on NUC7CJYH [Solved]

Hello All After the hiccups with the first release of Mint19 it was fantastic to install ver 2 on my NUC and it installed and ran perfectly first go. Also after the updates. As with previous versions of Mint, the networking and file sharing had to be tweaked thanks to Altair4 with the addition of hi...

Hello All I have 4 computers on a home lan - 2 are running Mint 17.3 mate and 2 updated to 18.3 mate. After solving network and sharing problems with Altair4 all seemed good except that I am now trying to copy all files from my 17.3 Music folder/sub folders and files to the same Music folder on the ...

Re: Clean installation of Linux Mint 19 from a USB fails with reboot

Hi All
I have almost the same problem after installing in uefi mode tries rebooting then says "no bootable device installed".
No matter what I do - same result.
Have installed earlier versions no problem only 19.
Ubuntu 18.04 installs perfectly.

Re: Unable to Create Share in 18.3 Mate for Network file sharing

Hello Altair4 Thank you very much for your reply - I assumed that Samba was automatically installed with Mint?? I have just installed samba as per your instruction and a whole load of stuff was installed with it. Rebooted and tried again to Create Share with the following result: 'net usershare' ret...

Unable to Create Share in 18.3 Mate for Network file sharing

Hello All The following is a bit long but hopefully explains the situation. I have a number of home networked computers (all LM17.3 Mate ) that have successfully worked until I started playing with upgrading 2 of them to 18.3 Mate and 19.Mate mixture of 32 and 64 bit. The installations have been mad...

Re: No Network sharing after update level 3

Hello Altair4 Thank you very much for the guide - I will try it later today and post the result - it doesn't really matter how I browse the network and transfer files between the machines as long as I can do it simply. I was so pleased with myself for getting everything working and interacting as I ...

Hello All I have 4 computers all on the same home LAN / router Two are running LM17.3 MATE 64 bit, One has LM18.3 MATE 32 bit and the other in a Win 8 notebook. Re: [Solved - we think] NUC7CJYH - Boot issues

Hi Clive Just a quick update while waiting for Mint 19 - I downloaded and ran Ubuntu MATE 18.04 LTS and everything worked out of the box! no updates necessary so Mint 19 should be perfect. I am writing this using Mint 18.3 on the NUC - hard wired ethernet , no wireless or bluetooth but that doesn't ...

Re: NUC7CJYH - Boot issues

Hi Clive Ubuntu 17 is working on audio as well and hdmi output is selectable so everything works as it should. I also tried a later kernel 4.16. 5 but it also locked up so 4.16 is it. It runs perfectly using a 40" Hi Sense 4K TV as a monitor and streams tv no problem. All to do now is wait for Mint ...

Re: NUC7CJYH - Boot issues

Hi Clive I am only trying Ubuntu to determine what I need in Mint to make the NUC work otherwise it is useless to me and I made a bad choice in buying it. Anyway a slight development today in that I re installed Ubuntu 17.10.1 and Bluetooth worked first up without any upgrades - very stable. No wifi...

Re: NUC7CJYH - Boot issues

Hi Clive Don't be too pessimistic just yet! After a bit of reading on an Intel Forum someone posted that they got their NUC7CJYH working by installing Ubuntu 17.10 and linux-firmware package 1.173 and with a driver update everything worked. On another post similar - Ubuntu 17.10 with a kernel upgrad...

Re: NUC7CJYH - Boot issues

Hi Bara
I will get there somehow - but don't yet know the way - surely not too hard.

When I get there I will post.

I am not inclined to install Win anything as I stopped using it so many years ago.

Re: NUC7CJYH - Boot issues

Hi All I too have bought a NUC7CJYH the other day and initially had problems installing and running 18.3 however found the following: 17.3 installed and booted ok but as suggested above no wifi or bluetooth or ability to change screen resolution - pain. I certainly have bitten off more than I know h...

[Solved]Re: Arduino USB Connection

Hello all Firstly - Thank you for your help suggestions. Secondly and I feel a bit stupid having to admit that I made a wiring error in connecting the ultrasonic sensor to the UNO and this must have affected "everything!" When I rectified the error and reconnected the usb programming cable after a f...
