Re: Can't install hplip 3.10.6
Thanks Gramps. I think I'm actually on 3.10.9 or whatever the latest is but I couldn't find my printer in the list of PPD files. I did finally find it last night after trying the CUPS install on the web interface. It was still difficult because of the order they are in. I was looking in the "HP...

Re: Can't install hplip 3.10.6
Did you ever figure this out? I have the same printer and I got hplip installed doing it the manual way but there is no PPD file for my printer. I tried some others and it didn't work.

Re: Backup Tool Fails-"An Error Occurred While Accessing The
Alright, looks like I found the solution. It seems rather silly, but the first application listed in the file is 4l which I believe is for some lightscribe software. Anyways, it is the only one in the list that starts with a number instead of a letter. I took it out and the list loaded fine. I put i...

Re: Backup Tool Fails-"An Error Occurred While Accessing The
I've been reading that the whole mint backup tool was not meant to be used to upgrade even though it is heavily implied in the tutorial I followed but I am just having trouble with the software restore. This was the major feature that made me want to try out upgrading. Is there no way to get this si...

Re: Backup Tool Fails-"An Error Occurred While Accessing The
ikey, I was following the tutorial ( http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2 ) upgrading from Mint 8 to 9. So the version I am using while restoring is the default install on 9. I also tried doing all updates the first time and this time I've reinstalled again and not run any updates before t...

Backup Tool Fails-"An Error Occurred While Accessing The Fil
Backup Tool Fails-"An Error Occurred While Accessing The File" It then stops responding and I have to force quit the application. If I open the file in Gedit, it opens perfectly and I can see the list of programs. Any idea why the backup tool cannot open it? I thought maybe it was permissi...

Re: Help! Wifi conected but don't work
How about we concentrate on the wired issue first. I doubt your wireless will work if we don't fix the problem with the wired first.
Do you get link light on your wired network card when connected to the switch?
Have you tried running the command:
sudo dhclient

Re: Help! Wifi conected but don't work
Hi, you'll need to provide more information than "it doesn't work" to get any help.
can you post the output of the command 'ifconfig' and 'iwconfig' while you are connected to the wireless?

Did you just post the same question under different names? That's really not helpful to anyone if so.

Re: Permissions problem/mistake - HELP!
Booting from the live cd would be my suggestion and it looks like you are already doing that.
Is the live cd mounting your hard disks when it comes up? What do you mean that you can't find the files even?

I'm out of town right now but can't wait to get home and "upgrade". Thanks for the notes on reinstalling and using your old /home partition. That's exactly what I'll be doing. And I'll be seeding also.
Thanks again to all for the hard work!

Re: ATI Video Acer with video veiwing issue
Thanks mclovin. I've since gone back to the non-restricted drivers because I was constantly getting the screen corruption on the bottom right of the screen with restricted. I've uninstalled compiz as well because my priorities are with quicker response for my laptop right now. If I decide to give it...

Just wanted to say this happened to me as well and I'm not sure how. I was looking around in the Login Manager the other day but certainly didn't change the language intentionally.
Thanks for sharing your solution dswaim91. Saved me quite a bit of time I'm sure.

Ok, I finally found the solution. So for anyone else out there with this problem, check this page: http://nuked-node.net/how-to-fix-compiz-fusion-video-playback-problem Basically, you need to check the video settings for each of your video players and tell them to use the video output device "X...

Re: ATI Video Acer with video veiwing issue
I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you but I have the same problem. Mine is an Acer 5100 with the same graphics card. I also upgraded with Envy to get Compiz Fusion working and now I have the same video problem tested with multiple players. I'm on Daryna KDE. Is there anyone who has any ideas sho...
