Especially if you have the sense to search for Google.com when you go to browse the list of search engines brings it right up near the top of the list it does... I meant that I felt more comfortable installing upstream Firefox than finding and installing some Google search plugin that isn't officia...

How did you Install upstream Firefox? I am getting ready to bail on Mint if I have to keep fighting this. Turns out that the power supply was on its way out. With the new power supply in place, the Ethernet connection no longer randomly drops out.

I'm having a similar issue on a Dell Vostro 1400, with Nvidia GeForce Go 8400.

Everything was humming along swimmingly until today; now I need to boot into recovery mode and initiate an FSCK to get anything other than a black screen with my Mint install.
