Re: Can't get "other" apps to load on boot...

Found two solutions but neither involve init.d. Came across a different command to load Plex and tried it in rc.local and a cron job. Both are working for other applications / scripts I want loaded at boot. First Option: Created a script in /usr/bin/ called plexload.sh #!/bin/bash ### BEGIN INIT INF...

Apparently you need to add some stuff to the top of the script:

and
https://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts
Thanks. Added LSB information, no more error but still not loading upon boot.

Re: mate-session-properties CLI?

The default startup apps are in .desktop files in /etc/xdg/autostart/ dir. If you uncheck or edit some of them via m-s-p UI, the modified files are copied to ~/.config/autostart/ dir (and mate-session-manager will take that into account when starting). New apps that you add there go into that dir a...

Can't get "other" apps to load on boot...

What I mean is, third-party applications such as Plex Media Server. Plex installed an entry into /etc/init.d but it doesn't load on boot. I've made sure the files are executable and owned by root and I've tried... sudo update-rc.d plexmediaserver defaults I do get the error, "update-rc.d: warni...

mate-session-properties CLI?

Hi guys and gals Is there any way to add startup apps to mate-session-properties using the command line? Entering "mate-session-properties --help-all" gives me this but nothing about adding. Usage: mate-session-properties [OPTION...] - MATE Session Properties Help Options: -h, --help Show ...

Re: Solution to external harddrive continuously being reassi

It looks like a hardware (HDD) failure. Probably either the HDD PATA/SATA embedded controller (circuit board), the power adapter or USB interface of the external box or some cabling disorded are causing those disconnect/reconnect operations. Or maybe the USB controller on your mobo. dmesg should te...

Solution to external harddrive continuously being reassigned

For a while now I've had an issue with my external drive's address being reassigned at random. Of course the drive unmounts and I cannot access anything without finding out the new address to remount. To clarify what I mean by address, lets say the drive is listed as /dev/hdb1 it will randomly chang...

Re: And again with the errors, iPod related again

I get this same error after the ipod has been mounted. Then if the ipod is connected multiple times this message is displayed multiple times as seperate messages. I want to suppress it as it is extremely annoying!

Re: Burn effect in compiz(SOLVED)

"Animation Addons" is not in CCSM for some reason. I've installed everything I need for Compiz to run and works fine, but those extra effects are missing. Not sure why, any ideas? Running Linux Mint XFCE 13.
