I just installed it in Mint 18.1., amd64, kernel 4.4.0-53-generic. I get a segmentation fault also.

Re: What's Up with the Weather? (in Mate it stopped working for me in 18.)

I just updated from 17.3 in December, and the app's not working in Cinnamon. Curiously, I dual boot with LMDE, and it is working there.

Re: Cinnamon panel weather applet not working

Got it working. Looked in ~.local/share/cinnamon/applets and found two entries: one for the new mockturtle app, and one for an older cinnamon-weather app. Presumably this was a holdover from before my upgrade to Betsy. I deleted both, then reinstalled the new weather app from the settings menu, and ...

Re: Cinnamon panel weather applet not working

Thanks, mrdashhund. I just tried that -- there is no configure button for the weather applet. If I click on the calendar applet, for example, I see the configure button you're talking about. But when I click back to the weather applet it disappears.

Cinnamon panel weather applet not working [SOLVED]

This is the mockturtle weather applet that sits in the panel. All I get in LMDE2 (upgraded from LMDE a few months ago, manager indicates up-to-date) is an icon with a circular arrow and an ellipsis. If you click on it, it says 'loading'. You can right-click on it and take 'configure', but it just ta...

Re: Hibernation works, suspendation does not

Same issue here -- freezes on waking up after suspend. I dual boot with LMDE, and it works there.

Synaptic says 1616 packages Installed (manual) [SOLVED]

I'm trying to clean up my system, which is several years old and has gone through several update packs. Currently, Upgrade Manager says I'm up to date with UP8. While working in synaptic, removing some never-used and obsolete packages, I noticed that I have 1616 packages listed under Installed (manu...

Re: These files are *NOT* on a Video DVD

I'm suddenly seeing the same thing on LMDE. Had a power flicker that caused a reboot.

Odd list to be removed with thunderbird

I'm running LMDE update pack 8. When I attempted to remove thunderbird I was informed of a large and scary list of applications that would be put on the autoremove list: 3:44pm (bp) ~> sudo apt-get remove thunderbird Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information......

Re: Why a whole slew of updates?

Using Cinnamon, but have used mate, so must still be installed. And yes, most of the updates are related to Mate, with about 15 apparently not:

Thanks for the info.

Why a whole slew of updates?

Today the update manager indicated there are 71 updates available (all the old versions are from wheezy). Can someone explain this to me? I'm current with update pack 6, and my system is pointing to Linux Mint Debian Latest. It was my understanding that using update packs frees you from having dozen...

Nemo showing two icons for the same partition [Solved]

I'm getting two icons for my common data partition, one functional and one empty that gives errors if accidentally clicked. I see this problem in nemo, and in save dialogs. What am I doing wrong here? Entry in /etc/fstab for this partition: # /dev/sda8 my common data partition UUID=3F3D-F6F9 /media/...

Unexpected window maximization on cinnamon desktop

Following update pack 6 installation I note the following odd behavior not seen with update pack 5. If I re-size the window for any program too big (still working on that definition, but it's something like 'with borders within 1/2" of the screen edges'), then the next time I launch that program it ...

Where are the settings for 'Print to File'?

I've always used the 'Print to File' option, which has given me a no-fuss pdf, and allows me to name it, which is not an option if you select the PDF printer. But I always have to select a 'Save in Folder' option (home is the default, but I use a common partition on another drive). Specifying an Out...

Re: Can't Edit Cinnamon Menu

I was able to add some items by logging into XFCE, editing the menu there, then reverting to cinnamon. Thanks for the input. Are you saying that this will be fixed in a future update? I'd rather not change any config files to non-standard, as I'm sure I will forget to change it back and get into tro...

Can't Edit Cinnamon Menu

I've recently installed the April LMDE RC for amd-64, and it's now updated to update pack 4. Unlike my previous LMDE with gnome2, I can't edit items in the menu (i.e., add my own menu and populate it with items). When I right-click on the menu button, the expected 'Main Menu' window opens, with a Me...

Re: Virtualbox broken after switch to upgrade packs

Still no go. The closest I could find to your suggested path was: /usr/share/virtualbox/src/vboxdrv (only choices in src were vboxdrv vboxnetadp vboxnetflt Applying the patch I get the following error: can't find file to patch at input line 3 Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option? The text...
