You may be able to install a deb on a live usb with persistence - although not all programs install correctly using this method - you will however still have to be connected to the internet to meet any dependencies when you install the deb. OR Full Install to the usb - again you will however still h...

Re: 2 USB Sticks, how to get GRUB to 2nd stick?
The easy way to do it would have been at install - you just point the boot loader to the second usb. You'll only need a usb of min 128mb - you cant get them now
so a 1g stick will be fine.

Re: Startup screen...
Have you setup the Virtualbox correctly? You've used a 32bit iso on a 32bit setup or added cores for a 64bit iso?
I have posted a few vids on the setup of virtualbox https://www.youtube.com/user/USBTux/playlists.
If all else fails make a new VB contaier and reinstall.

Re: Dropbox won't work with Mint 17.1
I have the same prob on Mate - it looks like its not working but it is.
Do you have the green tick on the dropbox folder (and the folders below)? if yes then the sync is working, you'll need to use your browser to log into the web interface. Not as handy as the launch bar interface but still works.

Re: Install on formatted hard drive
As others already said: bare drive = no problem. Only thing you might need to do depending on how they erased the drive is put a new partition table on it. (Can't remember if that's necessary to do ahead of time or not.) If the installer does not recognize the drive, cancel the install and then fin...

Re: [Solved] Linux Mint lightweight desktop roadmap
Mint discontinued lxde after Mint 12 LXDE - although there were/are some unofficial mintlxde iso's available, Last one I know of was from the Polish Linux Mint community.

Try pressing Ctrl, Alt Back_Space at the same time - to logout - then log back in. Its a PIA I know, as you'll lose all work thats open/not saved, but you get back to the desktop quickly.

Re: Cloning then expanding live persistence space
Dear Mute Ant, Since I've spent so much time configuring, adding to and updating Linux Mint, I wanted to, if possible, avoid starting from scratch. If I use my configured 8 GB Linux Mint Live flash drive to install Linux Mint onto a 16 GB flash drive, will it install the original, unconfigured Linu...
