Well this is good news I must say!! I'm just returning to Mint after a couple of years or so away .. Mint 7 was the last version I had loaded I think!
Anyhow I'm running Mint Debian in VirtualBox at the minute .. so far so good!
It's about time you got away from that Ubuntu nonsense ..

Re: If you get grub errors after an install look here
Well, I'm getting 'Error 15' after installing Mint 8 , and I don't have any dodgy disks! Maybe it's because I had my external USB drive plugged in at the time .. normally I'd unplug it, but I forgot. I'll try another fresh install tomorrow and see what happens .. damn annoying though!! All sorted n...

Best driver installation procedure?
In a fresh Mint installation, is there a prefered way to install graphic card drivers? (Nvidia in my case)
for example .. are the restricted drivers good enough, or would Envy installed drivers be a better way to go?
I'm just curious as to the differences really .. thanks for any insights folks !!

How about the info on this page ... http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder ...
Failing that I would say the best place to ask is the support forums ... http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php ...
Good luck !

Re: Thunderbird profile doesn't work.
I use a program called 'Mozbackup' in windows Vista to do regular backups of Firefox and Thunderbird .. you could try running this and it might recover or repair your profile .. worth trying anyway !

Re: Which version of Mint for me? (+ some other newbie q's)
It's easy enough to load E17 into an existing version .. whichever one you choose .. after you have installed it. For instance you could install the standard Daryna 4 (Gnome/XFCE/Fluxbox whichever you fancy) ... then load up E17 following the instructions at the wiki page here ... .. http://www.linu...

Hello all .. I've installed Moto4lin via Synaptic and the app starts OK .. but I can't seem to connect my phone! This phone is a Motorola RAZR V3 via USB lead which I've connected in my Vista PC dozens of times ... I have flashed/edited/unlocked several phones over the past year or more so I'm very ...

Re: What is your preferred Desktop Environment or WM (Poll)
It's sad to see the Mint user-forum revert to PCLinuxOS bashing, I only hope the PCLOS user-forum continues supporting Mint as it has...... I'm sure Clem will be disappointed in some. BTW, as a long time Mint user I applied the so called "PCLOS hack" and voted for KDE. Thats a bit over th...

No start-up/shut-down sounds in Daryna! solved
I've installed Daryna a 3 or 4 times now .. dual-booting with Vista ... and everything is working great! I've just realised (via another post in another section here) that I'm not hearing the startup/shutdown sounds! On top of that main audio related applications seem to work (amarok/XMMS/mplayer) ....

Amarok OK .. exaile/listen/songbird not OK ??
I'm using the latest Daryna with E17 desktop/WM, and everything is working very well ! I thought I'd try out a few alternative music players to see how they compare to amaroK and XMMS which both work OK .. unfortunately none of the others I try work !! I installed with Synaptic, which includes all t...

While we are talking about themes ... is there an app somewhere for designing/creating them? ... I've had a look around but there doesn't seem to be much info !
