Re: Open containing folder
This looks like a firefox bug. You could check by installing another browser (opera for instance) and downloading the same file. If you go to the download folder you can open the download file by right clicking on it and choosing "extract here" Try to reinstall firefox (eventually another ...

connect camera EOS 350D
Using Linux Mint 13 on a laptop (Acer one 1810TZ ; 2 x 1.3 GHz processor). Connecting an EOS 350D fails. I tried with digikam (the normal repsitory version and a beta version from another ppa : http://ppa.launchpad.net/philip5/extra/ubuntu). Both digikam versions killed. No error message starting fr...

Re: Opera Flash and Mint 4 Xfce
Make sure that you do not have the firefox flash plugin in the same forlder as the flash plugin of opera. I had once the same problem, removed the firefox plugin and it worked.

Re: Which Desktop Environment Should I Use?
You do not need kde to run konquerer. I use gnome and have picture preview in the file manager. You do not give enough info about your processor and ram to be able to advise on whether you should go for a light weight such as xfce or the more heavy stuff (kde, gnome). Choosing between kde and gnome ...

Re: Mint 4 or Xubuntu 7.10?
Mint or xubuntu should not be a big difference. I do not expect that changing to Mint will solve your problem. I think is has more to do with the apps you are running (many apps on the background ? Added heavy applications after the initial installation ?)

KDE4 is not complete. Wait for version 4.1 if you you want to help newbies with it or consider KDE 3.5.7. (or

Re: How to install driver for Nvidia 7600 Go?
i installed an older version (96.43) with envy without problem. The more recent driver gave too much freezes on my 7300GS. After you installed an nvidia driver with envy you will see the driver enabled but not installed in the daryna --> restricted driver menu entry. That does not matter.

Re: Quick Question
As you have decided to quit from windows I would suggest to convert the data partition as well. You should backup your data anyway, so in that case it is no problem to use ext3. In your case I would go for 3 partitions at least : a root (/), a /home and a third for backup. Better would be to have th...

Re: first boot problems
Try to replace in /etc/fstab the uuid by the normal device description. You can do that with the CD. From this CD search for /etc/fstab on your hard disk and edit it. Search for the device name of your hard drive. I suppose here that it is /dev/hda1. You can find yours with sudo fdisk -l First copy ...
