Re: UP8: connect apple magic trackpad > bluetooth freezes sy

For anyone else who is looking for this information, I managed to get Two Finger scrolling working with the apple magic trackpad. After upgrading my kernel to the latest 3.17-rc6 so that pairing would not crash my system, I then used xinput to turn on Synaptics Two-Finger Scrolling, instructions for...

Re: UP8: connect apple magic trackpad > bluetooth freezes sy

Hello, I managed to work around this problem by installing a latest kernel build. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.17-rc6-utopic/ I installed amd64 package files - linux-headers-*-generic, linux-image-*-generic and linux-headers*all (which I only needed in order for sgfxi to build th...

Re: [solved] How to resize with right-click + kb modifier

I was searching for this and found that I also needed to set this option in gconftool:

gconftool-2 -s -t bool /apps/metacity/general/resize_with_right_button true

The dconf value can also be set via

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences resize-with-right-button true

Re: no dependency information for libGL.so

I determined, with the help of some folks on IRC, that this is a packing problem (building with dpkg-buildpackage). I grepped through the source code packages and surfed the man pages about the tools looking for a way to pass --ignore-missing-info to dpkg-shlibdeps but to no avail. As a hack, I simp...

no dependency information for libGL.so

Hi, When I build Cinnamon from GitHub, I receive the following error message: dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 (used by debian/cinnamon/usr/lib/cinnamon/libcinnamon.so). My sys info is below, I am running nvidia 304.51 and I can get past this build error...

Re: Linuxmint 13 release date?

What is the proposed date for LM 13? Just awonderin'. I think it will be best for them to set a fixed release date for Linux Mint, just like Ubuntu does. Not necessary every six months, but at least to enable people to know when to look for a new release instead of hoping and checking back daily......

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

I assume Enterprise Distributions are not jumping ship yet, Enterprise systems just don’t work that way. Cutting edge software is not for them, they demand stability. The same should apply to Linux Mint. If Enterprise Distributions can retain established, respected and stable desktops, why can’t we...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

I have been a Mint user for a while, and am primarily an LMDE guy, but simply couldn't resist the opportunity to check out GNOME 3.2 a la Mint. So far, I really like it. The different workspace arrangements took a little time to get used to (and the lack of mouse scroll-based changes to workspaces ...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

If you go to the mint menu and type "Advanced" you could see Advanced Settings come up. Go into here and look through the options for "Bottom panel" and uncheck it. It should go away as soon as you uncheck that and msge-menu should move up to the top. I disabled that as well sinc...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

I am also in the "Love Gnome 3" camp. I disabled the bottom bar and the msge-menu extension as well and have been using the pure Gnome 3 way since last Thursday. I had a few installation issues however. First off, I installed off a USB key and I initially used unetbootin to create the boot...

It wasnt a question of connecting automatically.. the problem was that the wireless was actually disabled entirely. I had to enable it and then find and connect to my network.

Re: Where to install "manually installed" programs?

So in conclusion, I can assert that it is a common practice to install programs (depending on user access requirements) to install a program in the home directory.. perhaps somewhere like /home/alex/applications or something.

Thanks guys.

[SOLVED] Where to install "manually installed" programs?

Hi, I have a fairly simple question that I cannot seem to find an answer to anywhere. If I install a program manually (specific case example: https://open-language-tools.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=3440&expandFolder=3440&folderID=0), where is the best place to extract ...

For the sanctity of other, I did find a work around to this problem.. however I would not consider it a solution as it doesn't explain why it is not working the first place. I found this on: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=58107 I basically just added dbus-send --system --type=m...

Wireless disabled on startup

Hey Everyone, I am experiencing a problem in which my wireless is disabled on start up. Once I am into the network, I am able to just click on the network icon in the tray and click Enable wireless and it turns on. I searched around these boards quite a bit and found something about rfkill, and do d...
