Re: GDebi?

My 32-bit LMDE install also included Gdebi and it appears as an option in the context menu for .deb files.

Re: What is the Logout action in LXDE Menu? [sort of SOLVED]

Gladly, jeffreyC: First of all I did what viking777 suggested with /reboot and /halt . Then I added the following to the end of my menu.xml file: <item label="Logout"> <action name="Execute"> <execute>skill -KILL -u jvu</execute> </action> </item> <item label="Reboot"> ...

Re: icons and boot

Hi mak1, To start off I politely suggest that you first search the forum for answers to your questions (using key words, e.g. autostart, desktop icons, etc.), since many questions (such as yours) have already been posted and solved. Now for your question, see the following post: http://forums.linuxm...

Re: linux mint 9 problem (urgent)

im out of cds (crap) i dont have a dvd reader, and my usb decided to break itself :/ Sorry to say this, but your problems sound more like things that only you can and must solve: 1. Buy some CDs  2. Get the usb repaired (or buy a new one) -- BTW a DVD reader is not required. After doing these...

Re: setup shortcut keys in LXDE?

Hi, gychang! Put the keybindings in the section that begins (and further down the file ends) with: <keyboard> ... ... </keyboard> For example, I start the Bluefish html editor using the 'Windows' key and the 'b' key. My entry looks like this: <keybind key="W-b"> <action name="Execute&...

Re: startup applications

If you want something in /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint/autostartup *not* to start, the only thing I could think of is to delete its entry in that file. I forgot to put that in my last posting: to prevent a program in /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint/autostart from starting all you need to do is to put # as the fi...

Re: startup applications

Well, I just looked in my directory ~/.config/lxsession and see that I have a directory named Mint there with a file named desktop.conf I then went to the directory /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint and copied the file autostart into the directory ~/.config/lxsession I then added an entry like this: @geany sa...

Hi, altair4: Yes I think that what Aging Technogeek recommends will start the apps for each user. On my system I did a number of things after the installation ... and I don't remember exactly what was originally in the directory ~/.config  I*m sorry if I caused any trouble. Re: startup applications

Hi, dln9: I'm not sure what you mean, but if you are wondering how to start an application automatically when starting the LXDE gui then you should make an entry in the file: ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh For example, I start nitrogen (for my desktop wallpaper) using the following line in that file...

Re: Pcmanfm menu://applications/?

Hi, IKingjr: I installed pcmanfm2 0.9.7 and find no difference in the behavior of the applications-tab compared to version 0.9.5. Perhaps my posting is unclear, but basically starting the first instance of pcmanfm2 by any method other than by using the standard menu entry or the icon on the task bar...

Re: Pcmanfm menu://applications/?

Hi, I am using pcmanfm 0.9.5 and in my panel there is in the "Application Launch Bar" an icon for the file manager (pcmanfm). When I first start pcmanfm by clicking on this icon or or by opening the panel Menu -> Accessories -> File Manager I can then click on the "Applications" ...

What is the Logout action in LXDE Menu? [sort of SOLVED]

I prefer to use my own openbox root-menu that I activate with a middle-click on the desktop. I would like to add a Logout entry to this menu that functions like the Logout that one gets when clicking the Menu button on the lxpanel (i.e. shows the nice popup window with the various options such as Sh...

However, after booting I cannot get beyond the login screen! :? I enter my user name and then the password, but after hitti...

Removing 915resolution component worked

I removed the "915resolution" component and no longer get the error message. I also have now removed the 915resolution component (using the Synaptic Package Manager) and this seems to have solved the situation (meaning: no more error messages at boot or at shutdown). :D Thanks :!: Regards...
