Re: monitor goes black after updates

I don't have an idea on a fix for you, but out of curiosity did you run the updates with the desktop running? It is best to run updates without the desktop running. I use smxi and it makes updating a breeze.

Re: Can not find how to install drivers in Debian 201101

For installing graphics drivers in lmde or any debian based distro you should look into sgfxi and smxi.

Re: My New Linux Mint LMDE desktop

http://thumbnails35.imagebam.com/11833/8f00ad118328992.jpg Not much changes on my LMDE desktop. LMDE set to 'testing' with an upgraded generic 2.6.37 Linux kernel. I went with a 'retro' Mint wallpaper (with a minor modification +debian swirl) A simple, yet elegant 2-color Conky. I like my 'desktop'...

From what I've read testing will be pointing at wheezy in a couple of hours. Let the good times roll.

Re: My New Linux Mint LMDE desktop

@nemesis2all Looks like that rom building is really taking some intensive computing. 8 cores running at 100%, wow. I assume it is a quad core with hyperthreading or such. That is correct. Core I7-860. Rom building does really tax your system. If I build on my ssd I can get the time down to around 1...

Re: How To: Android SDK/ADB setup for lmde

Thanks for the guide, but I didn't know I had to do anything special. I just downloaded Eclipse and the Android SDK --- and it worked out of the box :) You are welcome. I am pretty sure eclipse sets up the udev rules for you etc. I do not have a need for eclipse tho so I usually have to go thru the...

Re: gnome-panel issue

Rebuild gnome-panels might be of use to you. This should rebuild your gnome-panel you will probably have to set it up how you want it afterwards.

Code: Select all

gconftool-2 --shutdown
gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel

How To: Android SDK/ADB setup for lmde *Updated 1/29/11*

This is a guide for adb setup on lmde. Most of the information comes from http://howto.ccroms.net/ This is just an updated guide with some changes to udev rules and a fix for if adb does not start with enough permissions for you. *Please note for 64 bit users you may need to install 32 bit libs. sud...

Re: New Functionality with Liquorix Kernel 2.6.37-0.dmz.4-nn

liquorix 2.6.37 + ATi driver fglrx = Error! Could not locate fglrx.ko for module fglrx in the DKMS tree. You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.37-0.dmz.4-liquorix-amd64 (x86_64) first. Its not possible to use fglrx with the new kernel. Too bad. Does anybody got more luck with the ATI driver and ...

Re: smxi and liquorix

It's worse now. My Mint install is totally screwed. It won't load X since it's corrupted or something? There's a left-hand cursor that wildly flickers and I don't know how to stop it. I can't get a terminal so I can't do anything about stopping it from trying to load. This was due to an attempt to ...

Re: smxi and liquorix

Flickering could be from not re-installing your graphics driver after the kernel upgrade. Depending on the drivers you are using smxi usually gives you the option to reinstall them for the kernel you installed before you reboot. Also you should put in here what you did wrong to hopefully prevent som...

HOW TO: LMDE media streaming to xbox 360

For anyone interested in streaming to xbox 360 using lmde this worked for me. http://scognito.wordpress.com/2009/11/18/streaming-movies-and-music-from-ubuntu-to-xbox360/ This is working for videos, pictures, and music. Below is a sample of what my /etc/minidlna.conf looks like. Of course your presen...

Re: LMDE SpinX3 Wishlist

I'll quote-reply to each post in turn afterwards, but I'd like to go over a few points so far. It seems the installer certainly needs added support, people definitely want more control in their systems so are we looking for more power options? How do people feel about things like smxi/sgfxi ? I lik...
