Scream? Fall to my knees and cry? Wet my pants? What is the appropriate response? :D

I would probably copy the contents to my Home directory and run it from there.

A good question. That has not been explained yet, and not just for LibreOffice.

No. Enjoy your machine as is...
I agree. You really only need 64 bit if you have more than 4 GB of RAM.

Re: How Do I Run a .jar File on Linux Mint 17 Xfce?

Right click the folder where the .jar file is located and select open in terminal. Then do this:

Code: Select all

chmod +x AAA.jar
Where AAA.jar is the name of your file. I had this problem with a game I play that is a .jar file and that command solved it.

Re: Cinnamon vs MATE vs KDE vs Xfce

What is the fundamental difference between Cinnamon and the others? They all do the same thing but in different ways. Just try out a few and stick to the one that feels right for you. There is no "best" but what is best for you. If I have Cinnamon 16 up and running nicely on my machine, what might ...

Re: How can I change from Cinnamon to Xfce?

You don't need Unetbootin. Mint comes with it's very own USB writer, found in the menu. I find it works better myself.

I have 3 GB of RAM and it shows 6% usage with only task manager open on a freshly booted machine.

I run Xfce on all my computers. I've tried them all and Xfce is the only one that works the way I want things to work.

I use Linux 80% of the time but I keep Windows around for working in an Access database and playing games. So the answer is no.

I have no idea which is better but I'm actually looking forward to both Unity and Gnome 3. New toys to play with, I guess. :)

Re: Mark Shuttleworth, the idiot of the century

Even if it's a bad idea it's not the end of the world. I assume there will probably be a way to switch this and assuming there isn't, I can always use another DE.

I am not a fan of Shuttleworth but he is not an idiot.
