Re: Good Nemo replacement for Cinnamon

Krusader looks nice, but with all the depends it needs is near 200MB, and possible troubles with all that KDE stuff ? Your call on risk/reward. Another option rsync, mostly likely already installed. One relatively short command. https://www.tecmint.com/rsync-local-remote-file-synchronization-commands/

Re: Upgrading/replacing Mint 17.3 in multiboot sytem

i) do I need to selectively save, copy or backup any other stuff - such as config settings - from the Mint 17.3 before I delete it? If so what and where is the stuff I should salvage? ii) related to that point, should I save or copy all my Thunderbird emails and my Firefox bookmarks from 17.3 in or...

You have smell-o-vision?
Nope, and I was wrong.
It's just I've seen a lot of posts in my time here, and nothing like that message before.
Apologies OP.

Re: Android apps on Linux

In my opinion, no.

But you can run all of them. You can install an emulator, android-x86. This is a full desktop version of Android complete with Play store access.

Pretty good instruction in this thread if your interested. viewtopic.php?f=90&t=288283&p=1597109#p1597109

Re: Mint Alternatives

That seems to be a DVD, rather than a CD. For the simple reason that no current version of Mint fits on a CD. Yes it is, and my bad for not taking bob's comment quite literally enough. I guess I sometimes use interchangeably the terms CD / DVD, when clearly they are not. Anyway if I may, my origina...

As for Linux Distros...I've tried many over several years and Mint is the best by far...apart from being user friendly and very stable...it has many tools by default that other Distros lack...but the choice is always yours. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/animated/anim_64.gif I'd agree with that...

Re: 19.1 along side Windows 7 gone wrong

Frankly, it seems rickNS and arvy overlooked that this is a multi-boot scenario. Well, not entirely, pbear. But, in my case at least, your comment is justified nevertheless. My assumption that InkKnife wanted the newer Mint installation as primary was without any explicit basis at that point. That ...

Pretty sure wrong, the boot loader should go on the disk (sda example) not in any partition (sda1, or / examples)

Re: Virtualbox fails to open, was working fine? Mate 17.1

got an error about DKMS and a kernel mismatch. honestly don't know what happened. Other then typical updates (levels 1-3), I've not messed with anything at all. I guess that's an example of what can go wrong, when updating only parts of the system. Since that VB is new (January '19), and if you onl...
