Re: Mount drive as writable

Windows is hibernated, refused to mount. The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0). Metadata kept in Windows cache, refused to mount. Falling back to read-only mount because the NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting.)...

Re: MESS Emulator Problems

Assuming your rom is in Downloads folder, open it.
Open another instance or tab in your file managerer, navigate to /usr/share/games/mess, then right click the roms folder, open as administrator, enter password, copy your file(s), close the elevated file manager.

Re: Font Shadows

First timer letting us know again that microsoft is better !
Haha, good one.

First I can't imagine anyone wanting shadow on "normal" sized text.
Pretty sure MS does not have shadow text system wide, but only in word docs. (or other graphic programs).

Libre Office does also have this function.

Re: Forums and me...

^ +1 to that post for how to search this site. (or any other site specific search) Why do people use win 10, it confounds me. If you "must" for some reason have to have windows, I'd recommend getting a copy of win 7 , put that in a virtual machine on Linux, no more problems with win 10 screwing up e...

Zipjim89 hi, First, I have never used wine or POL, OK. From what I understand is that some things will work, much does not, of the things that do work some do not work well. OK I admit that may be arguable, but the truth is that windows programs will run best on windows...so is there any way you can...

is there a command here in linux mint to show if my swap, home and root was set either logical or primary?

Code: Select all

sudo parted -l
EDIT;
Karlchen, replied before I hit submit, and it looks like he added some drawing and text to his gparted screen-shot I'll leave the command there.

Re: How do I change the icon of a Program on desktop?

I've never used any appimage, but would think that is the installer's icon, and not the actual program?

Unless you really need the pre-alpha version why not just install from the software manager?

Try this edit the file; /etc/default/grub
change the line;
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
to read;
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=LINUX"
save, and exit
run
sudo update-grub
reboot

Re: Partitioning and Swap

My thoughts on the size of / root is I've always made mine 20GB.
After a couple of years with mint 18, and quite a bit of stuff added my root partition is only 8 GBs used of 20 GB, plenty of head room.

EDIT; see gm10 beat me, and you can trust him.
