Re: Reconfigure grub..delete older mint install.

I don't see replies to your post & this is not a resolution reply. I also dual booted with mint18.3 then mint19. As usual the last to be installed takes first place on boot. I don't want this! I want mint18.3 to boot first. I've read through several post regarding how to modify grub to set the pref...

Re: Reconfigure grub..delete older mint install.

I have the opposite problem. When I installed 19 it did not put itself first in the boot order. Stayed third???? It should have been first. Should have been first...yes, but I suspect you put the boot loader on the 19 partition sdaX, instead of the drive sda. So if you delete the mint 18 partition ...

Re: Move open apps to new panel

I moved the default panel to top of screen and added new panel to bottom. I have always had applets display on top panel and open applications display on bottom panel. I am not able to do this in panel edit mode. I have 19 cinnamon on another computer and am able to do this. I have 19 Cinnamon v2 o...

Re: New window placement, possible to make LM19 remember where?

thanks rickNS! I found, CUT (which I think is kinda strange for a MSwin breakaway OS to not implement, but, I digress)... been debating installing and getting comfortable with compiz, as it seems stagnant- ringing it's death toll... I'm going to have another go at it. because, why not? ...

Sounds like you're on Cinnamon. I recommend giving people that information when you ask a question. It saves everybody time.
Echo Moem's comment as it is also different in Mate, but I suspect that right click panel, add to panel, workspace switcher is common for all.

Re: New window placement, possible to make LM19 remember where?

Like you said some windows do remember their size, and position, some don't. Kintpicking, Yes, but possible also yes. Lucky for you, you are using Mate DE, do you use compiz ? because probably the easiest way is using compiz. See here https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-desktop-74/fixed-w...

Re: Preserve /home

I burned a disc of 19 after verifying the download. What's the current way to verify the DVD? Just from memory, when the disk is finished burning, the process continues for awhile....it is verifying it right then by default. I just double checked, and at least that is the default behavior of Brasero.

Re: Screenshot not outputting the correct image

I would NOT reinstall mint from scratch > waste of time. And probably not a guest addition problem either as I just checked a Kubuntu VBox machine, running live with no guest additions, and screen shot worked on it as well, from that it seems not to be a linux, in particular linux mint issue. So pro...

Re: Sreenshot not outputting the correct image

First guess is Guest Additions are not installed ?
I can take screen shot in a Debian 9, and Win7, on mint host.

Since your mint is the guest it would be helpful if we knew the host OS, hope it's not windows.

Re: Copying an ISO DVD to USB Thumb Drive

when Installing Windows, my Desktop installation stops because it needs a driver for the DVD drive, This makes no sense, (to me anyway) pretty much any computer that has a CD/DVD drive should boot from a CD/DVD without any need of added drivers, or even a HDD installed for that matter. The disk mus...

Re: my pc doesn't boot from usb

Even though you got around this...

In addition to turning fast boot (fast startup) off in BIOS it must also be turned off from within win 10 itself.
Most often win 10 is never really shut down, see here,

Re: drag and drop functionality

Hoser Rob meant the right click drag and drop isn't an option. OK apologies for my confusion, but I've never seen a "right-click" option to drag, anywhere, on any system I ever used. Does not exist on Win xp, vista, or 7. Maybe it's a win 8, or 10 thing ? I mean what's the point ? if you want to dr...

dragging and dropping are functions of the file manager and the Xfce file manager (Thunar) doesn't have this.
That's strange drag & drop works for me in Thunar 1.6.12 ?
Copy paste is a better option, no chance of loosing the original, just in case of something going wrong in the process.

I'll check out the Vbox article, sounds like it might be a good option.
In case you still interested I can confirm that kodi 17.6 runs fine (without errors) on Mint 19. At least on a live stick with persistence. it does.

Re: Kodi issue

Thanks for the replies, I’m reluctant to upgrade to LM19 as I have Windows 7 running as guest OS in Virtualbox & I don’t want to reinstall that from scratch. I may try an older version of Kodi or remove it altogether. No need to reinstall a VBox machine from scratch, they are easily exported / impo...
