Re: a LIKE button for posts on this forum

Rick likes this ^. Agree, on a couple other different type of forums I frequent that have a like button I notice that some users like everything, whether is is useful or even relevant ! Other users rarely, or never like anything, hence there is no "real value" in the info. Yep, just useless politics...

Re: google earth problem

Hey OP, your problem was the same as me, the small window. Never mind all those links above just download and install (after purging google-earth first) this version. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx0YZ3Xi3rgTcTNjelJwUEVkNDQ/view I've posted this fix a couple of times and suggested a sticky, as f...

Re: Graphic Design: Home Made Business card?

2nd vote for Glabels.
It is a great program, quite powerful, easily resize (scale), and move elements around. I have "some" GIMP experience, but if you want easy Glabels is it.

Re: Linux Mint 19 “Tara” MATE – BETA Release

so that said it would seem a lot better for everyone to have a place / blog for just the bugs without the extraneous natter...would it not? It wouldn't matter where we put it. We would get the same stuff. It wouldn't change anything. On second though I realize you are right, no matter where it is d...

Re: Linux Mint 19 “Tara” MATE – BETA Release

Too bad bug reporting is so difficult, and there is no feedback. "lost in the blog"... Wasn't that an old sci-fi movie in the 60's? That's a lousy way to handle bug reporting :( There has to be a better way to do that. And it has to be a pain for them too with so many posts. Honestly, setting up a ...

Re: Linux Mint 19 “Tara” MATE – BETA Release

Anyone know if compiz works in mint 19 Mate ? I guess while waiting I'll just download and see for myself. EDIT, downloaded, loaded on stick with persistence. I see CSM in control center, and yes compiz works. No time to "play" now, and no need to upgrade anytime soon. I see I'll have to get used to...

Re: Linux Mint 16 and 18 freeze problems

Been using Mint for over 10 years, (since version 9) Not one freeze. Been running this time over 86 days straight. ~ $ uptime 19:23:38 up 86 days, 5:11, 2 users, load average: 0.23, 0.29, 0.19 I wonder how many of those freeze posts are related to hibernation, suspend / sleep ? How many are related ...

I don't know what might be wrong with your disk, but the TEMP shown of 82 F is not hot.
What does the SMART DATA say about the disk ?

Re: Running LM From a Flash Drive

I agree with the others getting a used laptop, or installing Virtual Box are perhaps the better way to go, BUT David asked how to put Linux Mint on a USB, so.. BTW Yes I also agree it runs slower from a stick, but it is not that bad, at least for "practice" trying it out. To put Linux Mint on a stic...

Re: Proper sequence for full backup and clone

EDIT see your going from desktop to laptop, different hardware. Because a clone or a Timeshift snapshot is meant to restore the same machine, or at least very similar hardware it may not work to "restore" to a different machine. I do run from cloned drives, but they are in identical machines.

For many people, for whatever reason the newest version of GE just does not work properly. I am one of them, however an older version 7.1.8* works just fine. Check out this other thread https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=251204&p=1433162#p1433162 And link to the download of the versio...

Don't know anything about your keyboard, but you can use the "U" code to get the @ symbol.
Press and hold ctrl + shift + U, release the keys, then press 40 then enter.

Re: Need the "degree symbol"

I too am one who misses the alt codes from windows, in particular for me was ¼, ½, ¢, among a few others. If you only need the one for degree then remembering the U code for degree is not so bad, but the U code, "ctrl shift U...B0 space", is not that convenient eh? Since you still looking for other ...
