Should I use testing or squeeze for LMDE for its debian repo since I'm installing it from Squeeze AMD64? Vincent's article -> http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/198 refers to both. Should I use testing or squeeze for LMDE for its debian repo since I'm installing it from Squeeze AMD64? Vincent's article -> http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/198 refers to both. But at that time maybe Squeeze is Testing.

How to convert Debian to LMDE? [SOLVED]

Hmm, you mean that verbatim quote of pinning in the articles mentioned at start of this thread are not good enough? i think i'm on a wrong topic since i'm not converting squeeze to lmde but merely using lmde repo to get the latest thunderbird and firefox on squeeze with the preferences file like so...

how do i do apt-pinning to avoid conflict with squeeze's packages?

what should i put in /etc/apt/preferences ?

would it be something like below:

Hi,
I was using mint around 2007 and when i came back it seems that mint had gone a long way from then. Congratz to dev crew!

Since there's LMDE and i'm a hardcore Debian user, I think I would take this one for a spin :wink:
