Debian mint crashes, 42 installs later....

So far i have installed Linux mint Debian 42 times... due to a crashes in some from or another from the updates

Firefox is damage every time do updates. I click on the icon, Noting happens.

There needs be a recovery mode, or software restore, Linux is doomed without it.

is there a tool that encrypts the entire system? It seems truecrypt does not support linux in this mythod... :|

Be nice if it didn't trash the system ei0ther, Why don't the installer support this? like on ubuntu?

He asked how to do that, not what are consequences. ;) So here we go: alt+f2 gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.lst add this line: deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free and you are good to go with your updates enjoy No, I am talking about packages for firefox only, or blender, ...

How do you add a package repo to the source list? I want updates for firefox, Blender, xChat etc to come from SID, I am using a stable system.

I installed crunchbang, I have no Icons on the desktop, I can see the wallpaper, but can not click on the desktop... Both on Xfce and Gnome, I have removed xfce

any ideals?

I installed Debian squeeze but snatpanic or what ever its called...is not reading the mint dvd? I want to use the mint DVD as a repo?

Posting from Debian Squeeze I may be a little biased, it may be more to do with your not understanding Debian. Debian has a very strong Free ethos, they don't include binary blobs in their distro, which can mean that stuff like video card drivers, or wifi drivers ain't there. Plug an ethernet cable...

I installed Debian squeeze, The thing does not have any drivers to connect to the internet, and it don't have any way of installing software? there no software app? no system settings? they spent 6 years building this thing?? there noting here.. I don't think there is a sudo? No apt-get, No aptitude...
