Re: Firefox replaced by "Inbox.com"
I had this problem too... I thought that removing it from the add-ons if firefox would take care of it, but found that My searches were still redirected. Found instances of "inbox.com" in the prefs.js file inside of the profile - /home/user/.mozilla/firefox/gobbledygook.Default/ . followed...

Re: MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: init_video_c
Good Ol' segfault. this could mean a number of things, so please provide more info, such as what graphics card are you using. *note: there are numerous bug reports similar to what you are experiencing with mplayer on debian systems. Check through there to see what is going on. http://bugs.debian.org...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE stuck at kernal_thread_helper
I think I have encountered something similar - thread-related calls, combined with errors for acpi-related calls - turned out to be a faulty system ram stick. first off, hardware issues should be eliminated as a possible cause - reboot into memtest86+, and let it run. Reply back if you get errors or...

Re: TV or Video Games!?
with nothing but the two? it's a coin toss, really. I'd probably be doing either one with them, so it really doesn't matter - I'll choose Video games, even though it's with the only Microsoft product I own - an Xbox 360.

Re: XBMC and Desktop Effects How to make them play nice
go ahead and turn them off - both the desktop effects engine and XBMC use OpenGL for hardware rendering. The memory that is alloted to on-board graphics is paltry compared to what comes on a graphics card, and both of these programs are probably using every bit of it, as well as some of the renderin...

Niether. I like them outside , running around like heathens, pretending to be motorcycles or airplanes or cops and robbers or mechanics or hairdressers. I they absolutely must be inside, then they are reading books - which they love to do. I don't know, maybe having four floor-to-ceiling bookshelves...

Yes.. and it's not so much as fsck, but the badblocks utility will alter the amount of reported free space.

you should attempt to install this game from the software manager/package manager. this game is listed there, and it installs and runs painlessly on my system.

Re: RAID0 and RAID1
That's the one problem with RAID0 - if you lose a disk in the array, you cannot recover the array. what was your original issue with raid 1+0? I employ a RAID1+0 array ( 4 disks - 2 X 2 disk RAID1 arrays(for data protection), which are then nested into a RAID0 array(for speed) RAID 10 Diagram if one...

Re: Installing Programs.
if you are manually installing a package, make sure that you are grabbing an ubuntu/mint/debian package. simply save the file, then: 1. locate the file in nautilus (file manager) 2. right click, then select Gdebi . 3. if the package needs dependencies, you will see them in red. search for them using...

Re: Console based music players
This falls into the pre-installation picture... most distros come with a GUI based music player installed, so people tend to use what they already have. You probably know that mint comes with rythmbox installed, so most people don't see the need to switch, and simply put up with whatever load that t...
