Re: How Sick Is This -- MS Attorneys Earning Their Paychecks

The main way to correctly interpret the stunning successes of Micro$haft, as well as, Walmart,McDonalds, Burger King, MTV, HARPO ( Okras nonsense) and a plethora of other completely useless entities, is to be able to acknowledge the fact that humans, for the most part, are complete idiots. Turn on t...

Re: I really want to like Bodhi (and others)...

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not desperately looking for an E17 distro, and I'm not opposed to setting up Debian XFCE. I was just looking for that "outta the box" setup. I just haven't found anything that I like as well as Debian XFCE. We'll see. mikhou Go get Saline. It's everything you seem to be ...

Re: Ubuntu's Unity will save Linux

Thanks exploder. Intriguingly, it seems as best distros are done by the smaller teams  Your welcome and I think you are right. The smaller distros do not care about the press and hype, they just want things to work as good as possible. You guys nailed that one ! Actually, Debian proper is hu...

Re: What makes you want to try Linux in the first place?

Simple. My first box was Windoze 95. My second was 98 followed by 98 SE followed by millenium( M.E.) Then I realized my blood pressure rocketed, I wanted to kill people and my hair had turned gray. I then downloaded Debian and then Stormix and haven't messed with the Redmond nonsense ...

Re: Distros of interest and why.

I'm kind of hard headed. I always disliked SUSE and Red Hat from day one so I avoid anything that tastes like that. I like Debian based distros and a few Slackware based ones like Vector and Salix. If you get good enough to custom setup a Debian or Slack system, from a base install, you can handle a...

If you want a nice lightweight Debian XFCE stable look no farther than SalineOS.
Make sure and read the user manual BEFORE you install it.

Re: LMDE New Release!

Debian is a very conservative distro. Ubuntu is based on Debian Unstable, and Testing is more conservative than Unstable. Debian Stable is seldom changed, and very conservative. Once a version goes stable, it only gets bugfixes, seldom any software updates. Sid, or Unstable, is actually a rather st...

Re: Mint #1 on Distrowatch (Last 1 Month)...

Every time Debian has a new stable release it jumps way up due to interest. Then they find out it's the same old Debian, non functioning, FreeDumb song and dance to to the likes of Stallman and co. Then people go somewhere like Ubuntu, Mint, Vector, Saline, Salix etc so they can load up, jump on the...
