Re: Mint 12 Dual Monitor Setup

Hi All,

For now I just installed MATE and it works fine with dual monitors. No eye candy, but I'd rather have it work than not!

So, that's a temporary "fix" until (hopefully) a real solution comes around for GNOME and/or Cinnamon.

Re: Mint 12 Dual Monitor Setup

I tried removing nvidia-common and I still have the same issue. I'm using the nouveau driver and making adjustments via randr and Display.

I'd rather not do a fresh install if it's avoidable...

Re: Dual Monitor (NVIDIA): No Panels, Window Borders, etc

Hi Folks,

I'm using the nouveau driver without the HDMI issue.

See my post here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 67#p580737

Any ideas?

Re: Mint 12 Dual Monitor Setup

Hi Old Mill, I am running into a similar issue. I have a laptop that I dock and extend the desktop to an external VGA monitor. Because I couldn't find a solution a couple of weeks ago, I've had to mirror the desktop, killing some valuable monitor space. I tried using Gnome3, Gnome Classic, and Cinna...

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X60 tablet rotation

I'll answer my own post here by saying, "Read all of the information on the linux wacom project's page." The git install method worked for me and I'm a happy x60 user. Good luck!

[SOLVED] Lenovo Thinkpad X60 tablet rotation

Hello All, I recently purchased a tablet pc and as a laptop, it works GREAT. I'm still working on how to update BIOS, but that's another thread. For now, HDAPSD is doing a great job of rotating the screen automatically. Here's a list of what is NOT working: Stylus: works great before screen rotates,...

Re: DELL DW1502 Mini PCI

Well, after overcompliating the bios flash for two days, I finally got it done about ten minutes ago.

Unfortunately, that didn't get the mini PCI slot working.

I'm going to check the BIOS for anything obvious (slot disabled?).

Re: DELL DW1502 Mini PCI

I chose the wrong PC to put LM on this time :)

The Dell Optiplex 740 does not have an extractor written for it. Therefore, no .hdr available from Dell directly.

Bummer. That means I really do have to find a way to get the .exe to work...

Re: DELL DW1502 Mini PCI

I've attempted several different methods of updating the BIOS, all of which so far have been unsuccessful for one reason or another. A lot of resources were written long enough ago that the instructions are outdated (give grub commands when we're all on grub2, etc.). This might be a topic for anothe...

DELL DW1502 Mini PCI

Hi Folks, I have a Dell Optiplex 740 newly installed with Mint 12. Everything's great with all the hardware including nVidia drivers. However, I swapped in a mini PCI card from a newer model Vostro 260 MT to get wireless on this box, since the other one won't need it. It's a Dell Wireless 1502. I fo...

Re: Intel 845M issue: screen display upper left only

I have an Inspiron 1100 that I installed LM12 on (over Ubuntu 10). The resolution was a perfect native 1024x768 in Ububtu. Now, I have the same problem listed in this thread. The display shows up now in the middle of the screen (previously it was in the top left with a "ghost" below it, and black to...

Re: Mint respin for business?

I really like this idea.

This week I've gathered 8 donated XP pc's and loaded Mint 12 over all of them.

Next week I'll be handing them over to a non-profit organization for use in their education programs.

I would love to see this happen in SMB.

Let me know if I might be able to help somehow.

Re: Cannot enable Broadcom BCM4318 wireless card

This is pretty old, but I had a problem with a Belkin FSD7000 Ver. 4000, which uses the same Broadcom chip. After a LONG time and a lot of searching, terminal (CLI) work, nothing... BUT! Then, I decided to just plug it into an ethernet cable, go to Synaptic, type in "wireless" in the search... It yi...

Re: How to setup Firefox 4 in Mint

I wish I had found this earlier in the day! Thanks for the quick and easy run-down (both methods). I managed to get it working before finding this. I did want to mention that the layout of FF4 is MOSTLY the same between Win/Mac and Linux. There are a couple of differences I've found. Thanks again, D...

Re: Clone HD to smaller SSD for Linux

Thanks goinglinux,

I'll have to check that out. I read about Clonezilla, but there were several folks who didn't like it in the reading I did.

But, that'll teach me to try it then decide!

Take care!

Clone HD to smaller SSD for Linux

Hi Folks, I recently bought a 64GB Kingston SSD + migration kit. It came with Acronis cloning software, and an external enclosure with USB cable. What an ordeal it's been to get it moved over! I read article after article about shrinking my HDD (80GB) to fit on the new SSD (64GB). I kept hitting roa...
