Re: What do you not like about Cinnamon?

3 things I don't like in Cinnamon-nemo. 1 Organization. You have cinnamon settings, system settings, login settings and more. wouldn't it be better if all of the settings and customization are all in 1 place ( this complaint could apply to other managers as well) 2 file copy - I used to get a new wi...

Re: Upgrade failure in Maya Cinnamon

Look through the upgrades in the update manager and Uncheck the one for mint artwork.
Then see if the rest of the items will run through. If they do, try the Mint Artwork again.

Re: Linux Mint monitors keep mirroring.

remove the X in same image on all monitors. Once that is out you should be able to change the mirroring setup.
I know. Its kind of redundant.

Re: Sony Vaio Touchpad driver

I have a Vaio, and I've had that very issue. In fact its a known issue but, not in Mint linux (that I know of). It only occurs for me in Windows. I'm using the natively installed drivers for mint 11 and don't have any issues. I would double check the mouse settings, almost sounds like its set to Lef...

Those are the key words in that error. Do you have any other apt apps open such as Software center or Package manager. Close them and try again. If that doesn't work, try a reboot.

Re: Why is one core, then another, pegged at 100%?

I would start with running top in a terminal. top top will display all the applications currently using resources, as well as current usage for all your resources. Its possible something is getting stuck, then when it tries to switch it to a different core, it gets stuck there too. But, thats where ...

Re: Cinnamon Questions

Just a note on 3. You can download Gtk+ window themes and install them by extracting the folder to your ~/.themes folder. Make sure they are version 3.4 however. There is a bug that currently requires that version 3.4 be used.

That does sound like a mess.
Do you have good, step by step, simple instructions for the manual way? I would be happy to use them, and backup my fstab.

Re: Files locked, unable to change permissions

I completely uninstalled and re-installed ntfs-config.

It took 20 minutes for it to start. but once it did It correctly gave me the option to set read/write options.

So, now everything is working.
I also understand how it works quite a bit more.

Thanks for all the help.

Re: Files locked, unable to change permissions

I'm unable to change or modify any files on the ntfs partitions. I can't create a file in any of the folders and I can't change or delete any of the current files I plan to switch to linux partitions in the future, but right now I don't have the space to do so. I believe the problem is with NTFS con...

Re: Maintenance & Dumbness Protection

beyond your home folder, there are only a few things. Linux Mint has a application back up option that is handy. It basically backs up a list of what you have installed. after reload you restore it and it goes through and re download everything. The other big one is any config files you have customi...

I would start on this page. There are multiple versions of the Acer Aspire One. Figure out which one will work for Ubuntu and the same version of Mint should work as well.
