Re: Why is Thunar so slow?
This is Mint not Red Hat. Besides ... A man walks in to his doctor's office. Holds out his arm and wiggles it around. "Doc, it hurts when I do this". Doc, "Well, stop doing that". I did stop doing that....lol...but I did come up with a great dropbox install for Xfce with a delay...

Re: Is AMD Switchable Graphics supported yet?
I have a Vostro 3350 laptop with Intel/ATI 6490 switchable graphics. To get it working, I had to run as root: #aticonfig --initial When I logged out and back in, ATI control panel was working with switch option. However, on reboot it went straight to console, not X, so I ran an update and xorg.xxxx ...

Re: LMDE: fan speed and overheating [hybrid graphic card]
Thanks for splitting this out for me....apologies. Ok...I figured it was the hybrid graphics....I had Scientific Linux 6.1 on it without issue as that one defaulted to the Intel Video. This is my second laptop and I wanted to put something Debian on it as SL is kept on my main machine. I'm rusty at ...

Re: Question for Boo
The decision by the devs was for the non-main editions to either base off Ubuntu or Debian, mainly due to time constraints. So my current plan is to at some time build all the mint (Ubuntu) KDE packages as Debian packages. so hopefully this will allow people to install LMDE and then convert it to a...

Re: LMDE SpinX3 Wishlist
Staying with Squeeze and back-porting updated packages would be cool...but Saline OS does that, so maybe it's good for choice using Testing, idk....
That aside, I would love to see a KDE option for LMDE....now THAT would be cool for the initiated !!

HOW TO: Emerald Install for 64 bit LMDE users
install the key and repo, go into Synaptic and install Emerald. I comment out the repo after install: deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/shames/debian-sid/desktopfx/unstable/ ./ wget http://download.tuxfamily.org/shames/A42A6CF5.gpg -O- | apt-key add - Ikey has a tutorial stickied for 32 bit users. Re: HOWTO: Emerald on LMDE
FYI , for those looking for a 64-bit Emerald. You can add the repository of Shame to your /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/shames/debian-sid/desktopfx/unstable/ ./ I was then able to install Emerald 0.7.9 without it "upgrading" any compiz packages. After installing ...

Re: MintMenu startup delay
Hi You may have the same problem that we had. Here is the fix I used... http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=63338 Basically , just change the opacity of the menu from the default 98% too 100%. See if it works for you. My MintMenu was default at 98% also. But, I had to go back to th...

Re: New Functionality with Liquorix Kernel 2.6.37-0.dmz.4-nn
twa, when I install the kernel on first reboot I boot into recovery mode and install the nvidia driver....otherwise, I'll go to black screen as you describe....seems you need to do the equivalent. It seems from the above posts that folks had to reinstall their nvidia drivers after updating to the L...

Re: LXDE on LMDE?
Heck I had Windows bleeding through when I installed KDE on LMDE. I'm sure I'd prefer to deal with GNOME  There's nothing stopping you from installing every DE available, you just may need to jump through some hoops. If you don't deal with gnome, the OS will try to uninstall it's whole self......

Re: KDE on LMDE
Hi joutlan, how did it go, running smoothly? Waiting for your feedback. Well, not very smoothly....Squeeze only has KDE 4.4.5 which I don't really like, but you can add a semi-official repo to upgrade KDE to 4.5.x. I'll need to try this again to get it right. I tried to do replacement of gnome, but...
