Unless they are specifically PC speakers they will not work. B. & O speakers have to connect to a B& O amplifier unit.

I have a similar problem on occasions although I'm not on fibre optic cable. When switching between windows and any Linux OS the connection is made but no access is available. I'm tried a multiple of methods, rebooting, restarting the router, restarting the network etc.etc. Both OS's are set to use ...

You can do it with 'vnstat' and 'conky' quite easily. Look for conky examples if you are not sure how to.
I have it on the desk top and toggle it between hide/view with a key combination.

Craig 10x If you have now removed vlc etc. and want to reinstall it, I think you are stuffed, unless "libva1_1.0.1-3" is still in your /var/cache/apt/archives folder. If it is you can reinstall this version ie. dpkg -i libva1_1.0.1-3( version name ).deb -- and then reinstall "vlc" etc through synapt...
