IRC not working.

Is IRC down? I couldn't connect last night and it's the same this morning. Is there a problem with my machine or is there a problem server side? * Looking up irc.spotchat.org * Connecting to irc.spotchat.org (109.234.106.53) port 6667... * Connection failed. Re: beautiful instable limping stumbling mint 11

The only thing I have found 'unstable' in Mint 11 is if I mess with the default compiz settings.

I expected it though, after all it is mentioned on the release notes.

[SOLVED] Countdown Applet.

Does anyone know of a decent countdown applet for the Gnome panel.

Or, alternatively some sort of widget for the desktop. I require the app/widget to countdown days and months.

Thank You.

Re: Hibernation + Dual Boot. Quick question.

Has anyone got any ideas on this?

Or is what I'm trying to achieve just not possible?

Re: Hibernation + Dual Boot. Quick question.

I'm back. It didn't work. :( When i first restarted the computer after hibernating the screen displayed 'resume from hibernation' or words to that effect. I then got the GRUB menu and was able to load up Windows. After shutting down Windows and restarting Mint my hibernated session had disappeared.

Re: Hibernation + Dual Boot. Quick question.

I'm about 5 minutes away from trying this out for myself. I will report back.

I have no interest in hibernating Windows, that is used purely for gaming. It was Mint i wanted to hibernate, so that i didn't have to close all the apps and reload them all after an hour or so of gaming in Windows.

Hibernation + Dual Boot. Quick question.

Is it possible to hibernate my Linux session, restart the computer and load Windows whenever i want to do some gaming and then restart the computer to reload the Linux session. It would save me time not having to close all my applications each time i want to spend maybe 1-2hours on a game. Is the ab...

The gimmicky 'aero-snap' feature, i actually find useful. 8)

But i find 'Alt-Tab-Arrow' better, multiple desktops makes life easier for me. 8)

Re: Firefox v3.6.15, Full Screen Video.

Any ideas anyone?

It's not a massive problem. I have just disabled the power preferences now, i just need to remember to manually suspend the computer or switch the monitor off if i leave the computer for a long period of time.

Re: broadband

I would of thought mobile broadband would be a lot slower. From what i can see a lot of it is PAYG? I know my neighbour has a USB dongle that he takes to the shop to be 'recharged'.

Im in the UK btw.

Firefox v3.6.15, Full Screen Video.

I have a minor annoyance.

I watch a lot of BBC IPlayer and 4 on-demand etc, is there anyway i can stop the screen-saver from coming on when it's playing full screen video? Some of the programs are over an hour long so i have to keep manually changing the power saving preferences.

Thank You.

Ash.

Re: Linux Mint GNOME and KDE?

Some say that for the best KDE experience you should use OpenSUSE, but then you are moving away from the .deb format if that's what your used to and will find yourself on another learning curve.

I used KDE before on PCLinuxOS, i wasn't to keen but it's personal preference.

Re: RE: compare XP to LinuxMint

You will probably find that most software will work on the 64-Bit version of Windows as well with some exceptions. I never came across a problem runnings 64-Bit Windows 7. I also haven't come across any problems running 64-Bit version of Mint. (Or Debian, or even Arch). ....I tell a lie, Flash playe...

Ok, this must of been a false alarm!

Everything seems to be working as it should, maybe i had something running in the background that didn't agree with it? Whatever the problem was it isn't there now.

Re: Suspend-to-RAM. Broken after latest update.

A little update.

It's not broken as I previously thought, but it does sometimes not wake up the display. I have just manually S2R and it worked fine on resume, but sometimes it doesn't?

Suspend-to-RAM. Broken after latest update.

My PC no longer resumes from S2R since the update pm-utils v1.4.1-3 to 1.4.1-3ubuntu1.

The computer wakes up but the monitor doesn't.

Any idea where to start trying to fix this problem?

Many Thanks.

Ash.
