Schakel gewoon dat automatische gedoe helemaal uit. Je kunt immers ook simpelweg handmatig een momentopname maken.

Re: Freezing at login when resuming from Hybrid-Suspend but not Hibernate
For the sake of pinpointing, try the daily build of Xubuntu 24.04 in the live session (trying without installing):

Does suspend-to-ram work then?

Re: Screen Scaling
Are you sure screen scaling is what you want? Because what most people actually want is simply font scaling: For MATE: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/first-mint-mate.html#ID2.1 (item 2.1) For Cinnamon: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/first-mint-cinnamon.html#ID2.1 (item 2.1)...

Re: Toasted my system trying to help on another thread
Booting from the Mint USB stick and then launching Timeshift is to no avail? Or is this error only there when you use Timeshift after the "successful" boot from the hard disk?

LMDE is just a backup in case Ubuntu would ever disappear. So simply stick with normal Mint.

Well, since you've booted more or less normally, you can also use Timeshift now....

Re: New HP laptop, will LM install void warranty?
Now assuming anything goes wrong with the hardware, like a motherboard failure and such, would you actually send the laptop to their tech department with all your data on it? I wouldn't. Neither would I. Good point. In fact, about a year ago I had to send a Lenovo laptop back to Lenovo for a warran...

Re: Toasted my system trying to help on another thread
Can you still boot from the Mint USB stick, preferably one with the Edge edition of 21.3 on it? If so, you could attempt to restore a Timeshift snapshot with it. Note that you have to launch the Timeshift wizard first (which is bad design), select Locations and then point it to the location where yo...

This should work:

(item 10.1)
In the item below that, 10.1.1, is described how to undo that (i.e. how to bring suspend-to-ram back again).

Re: Other software packages
In your situation you might be better off with a "rolling release" distro. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is a rolling release with not too much stability risks: https://www.suse.com/c/opensuse-tumbleweed-the-stable-rolling-release-linux-distribution/ I really loved mint but for my case I think I wi...

Re: Mint 21.3 Cinnamon system no longer booting after removing PulseAudio
A snapshot, no matter how old it is, can be brought up to date within minutes after restoration, simply by running Update Manager.... Or by this command, which is even faster:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Welcome! Make sure you update your BIOS to the latest version, which might require Windows, so do that before you dump Windows altogether.

Boot from the Mint USB stick, launch Timeshift and use it to restore a snapshot residing on your hard disk. Note that you have to launch the Timeshift wizard first (which is bad design), select Locations and then point it to the location where your snapshots are stored.

This might help to make the last error go away: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/faq-3.html#ID19 (item 19) This has indeed fixed it! Though, how do I know whether this error was actually important? If it was important, it would have been assigned a more critical log level. In that case, ...
