Just try it?

Had no problems with installing both 19 and 19.1 myself.

Re: 'Final stable' version?

LXDE might be a bit lighter even than Xfce, but for the rest I agree. :) Sidenote: LXDE isn't very alive any more; the attention of its developers has shifted to LXQt. But the problem with LXQt is, that it's not as lightweight as either LXDE or Xfce.... And the future of LXDE is uncertain to say the...

Re: Mint 19.1 not finding harddrive during install

First make sure that you have the latest BIOS, because there appears to be a newer version on the Lenovo support website. The BIOS changelog doesn't mention anything related to your problem, but it's worth a try nevertheless.

If that doesn't improve things, try Ubuntu 18.10 as a temporary solution.

Re: Drivers for WiFi adapter not installing

No, I'd recommend this one: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-TL-WN725N-wireless-network-Adapter/dp/B008IFXQFU But don't buy it straight away. First ask forum member JeremyB for help; he's the WiFi guru of this forum and can perhaps help you with your current adapter after all. :) https://forums.linuxm...

Re: Drivers for WiFi adapter not installing

With the WiFi adapter plugged in, please generate an overview of your system like this: - Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window) ; - make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines; - Copy/paste this command into the terminal: inxi -Fxz (if you type: the lett...

Re: BIOS update

Another consideration: how important is a particular BIOS update? If it fixes nothing that's important for you, why bother? :) I've done BIOS updates myself like that, but there were also times when I skipped a BIOS update because it was unimportant for me. Not worth the effort. It's always wise to ...

I understand you want me to use Timeshift. But then copying and pasting your / and /home partitions with Gparted on an external hard disk can't be used for a possible system restore?
I wouldn't know. I advise you to do exactly as I described.

Re: Mint 19.1 not finding harddrive during install

Did you prepare Windows 10 like this: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/prepare-windows-10.html If that's already done: Within the Mint live session, please generate an overview of your system like this: - Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window) ; - make the term...

Re: BIOS update

Now a question, having the Home and Root partitions cloned with Gparted on an external hard disk Cloned with Timeshift, not with GParted. :) if I reinstall Windows and update the BIOS, after, what do I have to do to get my PC back in the same state as now? Is it enough that with the live Linux Mint...

Re: BIOS update

There's a sure and failsafe way, but it does cost you a lot of time... 1. Create a Timeshift snapshot from both your system and your /home (with all its data and hidden settings), on an external medium (USB memory stick, USB hard drive). 2. Get a free evaluation version of Windows 10: https://www.mi...

Re: Mint 19.1 Are these updates safe.

I'll miss the levels system in the mintupdate of 19.2.... For my personal use, because I've set level 4 and kernel updates as "always visible", but not preselected. Because for them, I'm more careful with choosing the update moment than for level 1-3. And for my system-administratorship for some oth...
