Re: Should I remove old timeshift snapshots ?
First do some manual cleaning (delete old snapshots in Timeshift by hand). Then configure it to be less exacting:

Re: How to update intel drivers?
This should take care of newer Intel drivers:
Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels
Install the latest kernel of the latest series (probably 6.8.x)
Reboot and test.

Re: What are the disadvantages of using "older" Linux kernels?
According to endoflife.date/linux, version 6.8 has already reached its end of life for 4 months. Do I need to manually update the kernel in Linux Mint, or am I missing something here? No need to upgrade. Ubuntu applies downstream maintenance to its kernels (Mint uses Ubuntu kernels, you get 'em str...

Re: firefox browser locking up with certain websites
A computer of about 15 years old (BIOS is from 2008), is simply too weak and slow for average modern desktop use.

Ancient weak hardware. Apply these safe speed tweaks, but expect no miracles on that museum piece:

I can read those comments just fine in Firefox. Create another user account, log in as that user, don't change anything and test. Do you have the same problem then? Yes, I did what you suggested and can see the comments as per normal Well, obviously there must be some user setting(s) that cause you...

Re: Is Ubuntu/Canonical evil, and should I switch to LMDE?
Just stick to main Ubuntu-based Linux Mint, for as long as the Mint dev team makes it available. Leave the worrying to the Mint devs. And Canonical is not evil. It's a fine company, produces fine products like desktop Ubuntu and has done an incredible service for the general acceptance of des...

Re: Random Screen Tears in LM 22 XFCE
Try switching window managers and compositors for a bit, and stick to the window manager / compositor combination that does the best job on your hardware:

Re: Where to report kernel issues
Is there a better place for me to report this? Open Update Manager, then click View Linux Kernels and click Continue. Make sure 6.8 is selected on the left. Then on the right panel click 6.8.0-38. Then click the "Bug Reports" link. On the page which opens is an option on the upper right t...

Re: Securing driver structure.
@Pjotr This is simply not a good advice. It is. I'm a practical guy. The stuff that's critically important to keep updated at all times, is elsewhere in your system. Things like web browsers and such. For a desktop user it's usually not vital in real life , to have an up to date kernel. I'm talking...

Just stick to the kernel that works for you. The negative security implications of continuing to use an outdated kernel are usually not terribly important in real life.
