Levels are set to be removed completely with LM 19.2, anyway.
Why not let them stay (hidden, like now) for the people who want to use them (like I)?

Re: No sound

Does the sound work when you boot from the Mint DVD (or Mint USB stick)?

I recommend to read this article that I've written about Update Manager in 19.1:

[SOLVED] How can I encrypt zipped files with file-roller?

I'd like to encrypt some compressed folders. But file-roller only allows that for the .zip format, and it even then it does *not* allow for encrypting the file list (checkbox is greyed out).

How can I encrypt both a folder and its file list with file-roller?

Re: Used GPU - checking parameters

As far as I know, under- and overclocking is done in the motherboard BIOS, not in the graphics card firmware.

Re: So.....

Welcome! A piece of old wisdom: when in doubt or feeling unsure what to do while tweaking your system, trust the defaults. They should be, and generally are, reasonable and sensible.

Have fun!

Re: Recommended CPU

Try the Xfce edition.

Note that RAM size is much more critical: is it currently less than 1 GB?

Re: Problem installing Mint

It's probably the kernel. That contains the drivers.... The drivers in the default 4. 15 .x kernel of Linux Mint 19.1 are probably too old for your brand new hardware. So you probably need a distro that already contains the newer 4. 18 kernel (or later) by default. There are workarounds for installi...

You aren't doing anything wrong... the Weather plugin needs to be adjusted by its dev, for some Yahoo change. :)

Re: A review of Mint by Dedoimedo

Yes, it seems Linux Mint has been getting worse with every new version since LM 17x. I have no complaints with LM 19.1 Xfce everything installed and works great OOTB on my 2009 Frankenstein build. . Not for some newbies post-install, eg ....... https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=2856...

Re: A review of Mint by Dedoimedo

Well, I disagree with Dedoimedo. I think Mint 19.1 (all editions) is probably the very best that desktop Linux currently has to offer. Possibly even the best of *all* desktop operating systems, up to and including Windows 10 and Mac OS.

I used to use wine for various "Windows" only apps, but I got tired of fixing wine, so now I only run "Windows" apps in a "Windows" VM. It's locked down, so no real threat can get in and cause havoc or whatever...
Excellent solution. A VM is fully sandboxed, so quite secure to use. :)
