Re: fstab question, and UUIDs revisited

Just installed Mint 5 created 3 partition: "/" "/home" "/data" The "/data" partition is in /etc/fstab with exact same details as "/home" but doesn't show anywhere that I can find. Appears to be mounted at boot ( as it should be, being the same details in fstab as /home" but doesn't show anywhere ie ...

Gave up and installed Mandriva Powerpack 2008 - no problems. Sees drives as /hdxx and /sdxx instead of all as /sdxx. Problen no longer exists.

Re: Mint 5 and mix of IDE and SATA HDs

alanmzifa

Good luck to you.

I was only trying to Run Kubuntu Hardy or Mint 5 on and IDE hd. The SATA hd was only for data.

Gave up.

Installed Mandriva Powerpack 2008 - no problems - still sees drives as /hdxx and /sdxx instead of making them all /sdxx.

Re: can't boot Mint or XP, fdisk-l below

Its good to know that I'm not the only one with these problems, not that knowledge helps  ( see my post "Mint 5 and mix of IDE and SATA HDs" http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=13472) I see that there is now an entry in the WIKI re UUIDs http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php/...

Mint 5 and mix of IDE and SATA HDs

Mint 5 ( and Ubuntu Hardy ) will see all of my HDs, a mix of IDE and SATA on my Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro2 mobo ( I actually have 2 PCS with this mobo). Despite the PC BIOS setting Primary Master ( IDE) as the boot hd, and without SATA hd attached, Mint (and Ubuntu) are seeing this as the first hd and n...

Azureus install/update problem

LinuxMint KDE 4.044 beta Lite I installed Azureus OK but it wont install auto update, giving message " /usr/share/azureus isnt writeable". When I select "restart later" it closes and then auto restarts popping up an error box. This goes on and on so I uninstalled it. How do I get Azureus to install ...

Re: Daryna KDE CE BETA 044 is out!

Latest NVidia driver works fine for me with WideScreen monitor.

Shutdown problem has rectified itself after recent updates.

Sound stops working after running 1 flash-based ( ie youtube) video - next video or anything else, including Amarok, has no sound until I log out and in again.

Splash Screen Problems/ Shutdown problem

OK, now that I've got this distro working prety well I need to sort out some of the niggles. KSpash is set by default to 1920 x 1440. I edited /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/kubuntu/Theme.rc and changed it to default to 1680 x 1050 ( my widescreen monitor's native resolution). Made no difference. ks...

Re: Firefox Needs Update

clem re my above posts and the "fix" for the Google search, I have nothing against LinuxMint seeking revenue this way, but it seems from your post that its Google itself that is acually crippling your version of the Search. I understand that you ( notice I said YOU) cannot break this agreement in ho...

Re: Firefox Needs Update

So why doesn't the MintGoogle search page allow "Advance" search etc like the standard google page we used to get?

I'll just use Opera for my searches until this is fixed in Mint or I figure out how to "fix" it in Firefox.

Maybe just install the Ubuntu version of Firefox?

Re: Another mounting problem

Hi Fred Sobed my "favourite problem" The drive in question ( only one partition) was correctly labelled as /sda1 in fstab and Krusader file manager, but in Konqueror Storage Media it showed incorrectly as /sdb1 ( which it had been in its previous home PC) Figured out I had to change the disk label, ...
