Re: Keyboard layout Irish at each reboot--epic fail

I ran up against this same problem, it seems there's a bug (not sure if it's general Gnome, Mint specific, or what). Anyway, I found a workaround in http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=40414&start=0 You need to do a CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE, and then change your layout before logg...

Forum search limitations [SOLVED]

Hi, I always try to find an existing solution to, or at least discussion of, my questions / problems before posting a new topic. However, I find the search function of the Mint Forums sometimes very limiting to use. It seems like there are far too many words that get ignored as too common. I underst...

Re: Wrong keyboard layout, how to change by default (SOLVED)

I've had the same issue (incorrect layout showing up repeatedly upon reboot), clicking the "Apply system wide" button didn't help. I believe there may be a bug, as rich_roast said, because there is not way to set the default in this screen and I think this is what brings back the other lay...

Re: Sound input (mic) not working

We're not getting any help on this, wonder if there's someone who could take an interest? Thanks...
p.s. In the meantime I tried removing pulse-audio, but that killed a lot of my sound system and didn't fix the problem. So I reinstalled it.

Re: Sound input (mic) not working

Interesting, how did you disable the pulse-audio service? I see that's what Skype is trying to access.

I did check the Control Centre / Sound / Input, it's not muted.

Thanks for your suggestions.

That seems to have done the trick for me too! Thanks chzumbrunnen.

EDIT: actually, I still get the error sometimes. But certain things are working (e.g. drag & drop images into Google Wave)

Google Gears not working in Firefox

Hi, I've been trying to get Google Gears working under Firefox, but keep getting this error message: "Google Gears" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Firefox build type (Linux_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item about the problem. I've searched the...

This really isn't making sense. I seem to have pulse audio, but I don't see what you're talking about. Can anybody else advise? Thanks

Re: Sound input (mic) not working

Hmmm... Sorry, I can't quite follow what you did. I think I understand the general principle, but the screen shots don't help me as I can find nothing that looks like what you're talking about. I'm running Mint 8 32 bit. I don't see a lot of ways to configure my sound setup, the regular "Sound ...

Sound input (mic) not working

Hi everyone, I realize sound problems have been discussed at length, but can't find my exact problem here and trying some solutions offered haven't helped. My sound output works fine, but my mic isn't working (neither the built-in nor the mic jack). I mainly use this for Skype, but in the "Soun...

Re: Scrolling, Wrapping in Mint Menu

I'm not sure I understand your answers. You say If it wasn't done that way, the arrow key controls would not work well at all, providing no way to select sub-categories (sub-menus) But what about the left and right arrows? That's how I navigate between sub-categories. And your second point is very o...

Scrolling, Wrapping in Mint Menu

I am a keyboard-intensive user, and I find one behaviour in Mint Menu irritating. When you scroll down the items in a sub-menu, (eg. Accessories, Preferences, etc), if you hold down the down-arrow key it will wrap around the list when you come to the end. However, using the up-arrow does not do the ...

Re: SOLVED: New items not appearing in Mint Menu

Just updated, and the problem is fixed for me. Hope it's the same for others! As a side note, when right clicking on the menu I now have a "Preferences" option (don't think I had that before, sorry I can't remember for sure), which is Mint Menu specific. Thanks to all involved for the fix!...

MintMenu just updated, but the problem isn't fixed. Don't know if there was an attempt to address this issue?
