Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions

Why is it called "Linux Mint 10 KDE RC"?

Does that mean there will be a 'final' release of Linux Mint 10 KDE?

Re: Cool fortunes

I used to be a doubter. Nowadays I'm not so sure anymore.

Jan. 6th, 2007  You've been a member of these forums for a long time Welcome anyway . . . we're glad to have you. I actually went back to openSUSE after 1 month or 1,5 months or so. Re: Introduction & Linux Mint Praise

Well, I must confess I went back to OpenSUSE after a month or so, but right now I've been using Linux Mint Julia for about 2 months.

I'd like to renew my praise. Mint Julia is the most painless and most user-friendly distro I have yet used.

Eagerly awaiting Mint 10 KDE version. :)

Here it is:

Code: Select all

~$ groups wouter
wouter : wouter adm dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev lpadmin scanner admin"
I don't know... I want to install Dreamfall with Wine, so I have to be able to mount them, but also to switch between CD's when the installer asks for it.

Yes, it does this for ALL cd's (all 6 of them). Maybe it has something to do with that the discs use Securom? Still weird since there was no problem for other distros. Output from ls -al /dev/hd* : ~$ ls -al /dev/hd* brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 0 2007-01-09 19:20 /dev/hda brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 1 2...

Oh, and I have to add that I tried with some other CD's and with those CD's it worked fine. It's only with the installation discs of Dreamfall (trying to install it under Wine) that it gives this error. That's strange since I didn't have that problem under SuSe 10.1 or Fedora Core 6. And I'm pretty ...

Can't mount CD-Rom!

When I insert a CD, Nautilus tries to show the contents of it but then I get: "You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "cdrom0". And when I try to change this under Nautilus, Right-click, 'cdrom0 properties' it says "you are not the owner so you can't ch...

Better Boot screens

Hi, I would like to have a nicer graphical bootscreen, especially for Grub bootloader where you can pick between operating systems. Mandriva and SUSe do it nice I think. Also I don't want to see any text on the screen unless I choose to see it by pressing 'Esc' or 'F2'... and finally maybe make the ...

Introduction & Linux Mint Praise

Hi, first I would like to introduce myself . I'm from Belgium, 28 years and working as a webmaster/web content manager. This is my 5th (6th?) year as a Linux user. I tried about every desktop-oriented distro: Mandrake, Red Hat, Xandros, Linspire, Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, Fedore Core 6 and a bunch of other...

it is solved now!

Hi, I searched on the official Ubuntu forums, and I did what someone advised there, to type from a terminal: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and then follow the instructions there. It was a bit confusing since you have to know a LOT about your own computer and some questions are very technical. A...

Bea only sees resolutions up to 1024*768?

Hi, first and foremost, I've been using Bea for about a day now. It is lovely! However, I have a 19 inch TFT screen that supports 1280*1024 resolution @75hz , but I cannot pick this value in screen resolution. Before I installed nvidia drivers (I have Geforce 6600GT card) highest value I could pick ...
