Re: Transition Linux Mint 17.3 to Mint 21 (with multiple users)?
Are you sure there weren't bigger jumps than that for upgrading? Like right now, how far a jump is there to the current version?

Transition Linux Mint 17.3 to Mint 21 (with multiple users)?
I have Linux Mint 17.3 with multiple users, and I want to transition to the newest version of Mint (21). Can I just follow the installation guide that is provided for more recent transitioning to Mint 21, or are there added steps I will have to take? If there are added steps, what I am looking at ha...

Guide to upgrade Mint 17.3 w/ multiple user profiles to Mint 20.2?
I need to upgrade from Linux Mint 17.3, to the new Linux Mint 20.2. I have multiple user profiles, as well as want to use two hard drives, with one for the operating system, and the other one for everything else. Is there a guide I can use to do this, or is it multiple steps needed (since I’m so out...

Where is user/groups password file located?
I’m logged in, but I forgot my Root password. I changed two weeks ago, but either forgot to create a note, or lost it. If possible, i’d like to find the file that houses the password, and just change it there if possible. Or is that not possible?

<SOLVED> Re: Monitor re-positions on reboot. AMD Radeon HD 6
If that doesn't work, then open System Settings > Display, and manually arrange the screens correctly. Be sure the box next to Mirror Displays is not checked. Press Apply. This seems to have solved the problem. Odd that worked, and not the Catalyst Program. You would think it would be the other way...

Re: Monitor re-positions on reboot. AMD Radeon HD 6670
The only problem I see is that the refresh rate in the monitors.xml file for the Dell monitor shows 60, but the xrandr output and xorg.conf file show 75. Is the Dell monitor an actual CRT (cathode ray tube), and not a flat panel monitor? If it is, then 75 should be used. Change the value from 60 to...

Re: Monitor re-positions on reboot. AMD Radeon HD 6670
I tried posting my Xorg.0.log file on here as well, but Linux Mint Forums keeps having a problem with it. If I try to preview, it deletes the message and says "Your message contains too few characters". odd.

<SOLVED> Monitor re-positions on reboot. AMD Radeon HD 6670
I position my monitor with Catalyst Control Center (with a larger Samsung monitor on the right, and a smaller Dell monitor on the left), save my settings, but when I reboot the monitors re-position themselves to the wrong position. :?: I cleaned up my monitors.xml file, but that didn't fix anything....

Re: <Solved> Install Zotero?
Sounds like Zotero now has Linux specific downloads without having to go through a big rigamarole. 64 bit too.
It even has plugins for LibreOffice.

Re: AMD Radeon 6670 problems, Catalyst resets position on re
OK. Uninstalled the AMD drivers, cleaned off files, the reinstalled. Still had the monitors.xml with problems, (and then three repeated bits) so I edited it. It is now the code below, but there is still the same problem happening. I have to reset the monitors after reboot. What am I missing. Is ther...

<SOLVED> AMD Radeon 6670, Catalyst resets position on reboot
I have been having problems with the positions of my monitors. When I boot and log in, they are in the wrong place. I use AMD Catalyst and get everything correct, then when rebooting it goes back to the previous configuration. I want the smaller Dell monitor on the left, and the bigger Samsung one o...

Re:Chrome Adblock Plus ext. won't load to profile. <SOLVED>
No one answered my post, but I kept digging and another site mentioned something that solved my problem. To fix Adblock Plus (and possibly other extensions) not installing properly, do the following: Step 0: (I assume you did this previously) Write down the extensions ID, and Uninstall Adblock Plus ...

Re: Whats my best upgrade option? cpu or video card?
My internet connection likely isn't the issue. I can use a family members computer on the same line and it works fine. I currently have Linux Mint 15, but I was thinking of upgrading here in a day or so (ugh...). Also I have 3.9 GiB of memory that is DDR2, and likely mid-range memory. Also the game ...

Re: Whats my best upgrade option? cpu or video card?
My main use for this computer besides websurfing, is playing Star Trek Online (that's what is most important to me). I have had difficulty of late (the game is somewwhat laggy), and have had to resort to a family members computer. I was hoping a CPU upgrade would be enough to keep me in the game. If...
